Feeling earth’s pain?

When I see trees being cut down, water being wasted, and earth’s resources being wasted and depleted, I feel a lot of emotional pain. It’s like I’m channeling mother earth (I don’t know a better way to describe it) Have you felt like this?

We also tend to forget that we are the earth. We came from the earth, every single molecule and atom. We are very much as natural as rainforest/mountains/valleys, we are the creation from earth itself.

Our mother is suffering so of course we can feel it. We are it.

>>Greed separates Human Beings with other animals.

I completely disagree. why do you only feed a dog once or twice a day? Because if you gave it an unlimited amount of food, it would gorge itself until it was morbidly obese, just like humans who biggie size their mcdonald’s for another buck. and if you have a bunch of dogs and you put the food all in one bowl, they’ll snap at each other, they won’t line up and share equally. they’ll let the weakest starve. we’re one of the only species that actively tries to save the weak and share excesses with the less fortunate.

the mechanism for living in harmony with nature is not a pleasant one. most predatory species will over-consume their prey until prey is scarce. This results in a die-off of the predator species until equilibrium is once again obtained. that is how the harmony is maintained, it’s not an “instinct”. we work to prevent mass die-offs of our species, resulting in overpopulation. in a strange way, it is our kindness and compassion – not our greed – towards our fellow humans being that has put us in the position we’re in.

if natural equilibrium was an instinct, why are the pythons taking advantage of the opportunity to ravage florida? because they are greedy animals, just like we are. without predators to keep their population in check, they’re no different from us.

@daveb That doesn’t mean the dog is greedy.

Horses eat all day, everyday, are they greedy? It is just what they do.

It is because a dog’s natural tendency isn’t to be kept in a home and be fed twice a day.In the wild, they are constantly eating whatever they can. It is the involvement from the human mind that tries to control other species of nature. They have learnt our ways, and are GREATLY influenced by human nature. I’m sure if you lived with a pack of wolfs you’d be influenced by their nature.

“Most predatory species will over-consume their prey until prey is scarce.”

Can you show one example of this in nature?

I think that most predatory species will consume their prey until they are no longer hungry. Humans will consume, store, save for later, keep to themselves etc etc

Our kindness and compassion have brought us here, this is a very interesting point. I understand what you’re trying to say, but I honestly don’t see it as such.

Glad I’m not the only one sensitive to pain of earth which is a living breathing ecosystem that me and you should live in symbiosis with. I obtained an environmental engineering degree. So naturally I have learned more about environmental issues than most.  I have worked with epa and many environmental groups.  Unfortunately these groups receive little funding or support and I found many caring (but but almost forgotten) people working these places.   Many environmental groups wouldn’t even exist without caring people who feel for the environment since they are paid $hit and usually deal with so much political beuracracy and red tape to be able to do much good.  Tho “green” and “sustainable” and other new age words  and technologies: and energies are arriving each day so there is hope.  humans are (outof necessity and greed) mostly motivated by need and love for money. I don’t know why some care anout environment and most don’t.  I say the ones that don’t are the unenlightened virus.  not all humans are the same.  Each have different family trees. Good for those of us who care we are the lucky ones. The virus humans don’t know what it is missing. As is clearly demonstrated in this page by people who try to show you how not to care, which you shouldn’t do.  This virus is contagious.
