Lately I have been learning about how corrupt the World’s political, monetary, and religious centers really are. And from what I have seen, heard, and read I don’t understand how we can make a difference if these people really do have all the power. They will either dodge away from public accusation or if they see fit use actual force. Is the world doomed to a huge war where the powers of good and evil will converge and fight each other? Or is what our mothers’ said about playing nice and not fighting each other going to rule?
It just seems to be almost impossible for us to do anything.
So I guess my main question is… How can we change the world?
Things are not as simple as good or evil but there are changes that we are very aware that need to take place. For me the only thing I can change in the world is with in the community and persons I interact with. If I want people to be nicer, I am going to be nicer. If I want cleaner beaches, I am gonna go out and pick up trash. So the higher goal is set “change the world”, you brake it down into smaller things you can do to achieve this goal and hopefully you reach it. I am hoping so much that it is a chain reaction that can be started.
i agree with Netto encourage people to take small steps and the rest will follow and also lead by example. like if you want more people to start biking, start biking yourself first and start spreading awareness of the benefits of biking. then eventually more and more people will start biking.
@netto, break it down into smaller goals rather than one big goal, I like that!
To me it’s like a game. Everything is this big game, and the only way to change it, is to put in a new game. Game = paradigm/mythology/religion/perspective, whatever you want to call it. If we can get enough people to stop playing this stupid game most people play, and at the same time get enough people to start playing a new game, a game that might be more fair, more productive, etc (<<you decide what the new game is) then we have won. The current winners have created a system that clearly, a lot of people disapprove of. All we need is a new paradigm. A new way of looking at the world. A new game.
At the risk of sounding like a total hippie, encourage peace and happiness. Live peacefully. Don’t allow people to bring out the worst in you, which I think is the source of the problem. It’s okay to be angry and sad–we’re human after all–but people need to try to harder to control and direct those negative feelings in a better way. People need to communicate better and learn to think before speaking or acting.
I also think we need to try to see the good in everybody. I know it’s a long stretch, but if we want to accomplish anything as the human race, we need to tolerate and accept one another.
Granted, I feel this is impossible because although most people would love this idea, just as many would think it’s trash. And, again, we’re only human, and “peace” doesn’t seem to be an option when personalities and cultures collide.
Encourage birth control. Overpopulation is what I believe to be the cause of most our problems. I think corruption in politics happening less often nowadays because it is easier to discover with todays high tech networking and all the revolutions are a step in the right direction. We are slowly moving in the right direction. Unity.
Who knows? Great topic BTW
@cantbe123, I like your idea about the birth control. But basically the entire political system in America is corrupt, it’s just accepted because everyone knows we are in debt to private banks yet no one wants to do anything about it.
This is probably one of the most difficult questions, and it often plagues my mind. I’ve spent countless hours pondering how I could make an impact and get the ball rolling on finding solutions to all these problems and corruptions that humanity currently faces.
Unfortunately, the mass majority may not see the way you see, or be aware of the things you are. Everyone has a different perspective on how the world should be, or what changes are important. Some of us here at HE may see the many problems and corruption within this system and society we are born into, but there are just as many who will defend it endlessly. While it is evident that many people are not happy with the current state of things, it is almost impossible for everyone to agree on an alternative way. I mean, as you browse these forums, you’ll find that even us HEthens don’t agree on a solution. Even so, It’s really difficult for one person, or even a collective of people to just suddenly make a big change in the world, you would have to start small.
So, this might be sort of a let down to your question, but my best advice would to just start with yourself.
Be the way you think the world should be. Live the way you think the world should live.
If you don’t want to live in a corrupt financial system, there are alternative ways of living. Find the one that best suits you.
Share your thoughts, ideas, information, and solutions with other like-minded individuals.
Explore what works and what doesn’t. Be an idol and a leader in your perspective, and make a path for others to follow, if they choose to do so. Show people there is a different way, and a better way, and that it works.
You’ll eventually attract other people who are interested in your new found perspective and your new way of life. You’ll gain friends and allies in your endeavor of changing the world. Encourage these people to explore for themselves, and offer to share your experiences and advice with them.
While you may not ever change the entire world, you’ll create a haven for those who share a similar goal and perspective in which you can share your life with.
And if the current system in place does fail, and the world is ready for a new way of living, you’ll be ready and at the forefront of this change with a group of like-minded friends and allies at your side to back you up.
(As a side note, always be careful not to preach or use fear as a tactic for attract others to your new way, however frustrated you may get or however tempting it may be.)
Doing all this takes a lot of bravery and a good amount of risk: but anything that is going to actually make a major difference in this world is not going to come easy, right?
@humanexplorer, Thank you for being so truthful with your answer. I can see that you have spent a lot of time thinking about this. I have tried living in the best way that I can, but it is difficult because it seems that to get off the grid you need to spend more money to start it off which is impossible for me right now because I am going to college and the most important thing for me right now is learning as much as I can. But eventually I will stop procrastinating and start getting followers, I might even already have some if I were to ask my close friends. But I know what you mean about if I act the way I want the world to be then others will be drawn to me, the whole law of attraction has been prevalent in my life so far. Again I thank you for the answer that tied up loose ends but led me to think deeper about my solution.
You have to manipulate the corporate oligarchal structure from the inside out. Only then can you directly affect markets and resources. Only then can you affect mass bodies of people. Human masses are like non-nobel gases. They will follow the path of least resistence.
I agree. Lately I have been turning inwards and turning to the path of less resistance. I think even if we think we can’t do anything. The positive thing I’m finding. Is more people are at least aware of the question that we have to do something about it. I think there is always hope. More and more people will see they have to reach outside themselves and their ideas they previously held true. If it’s hard to change a habit personally. It is likely doubly harder for the people in power to change habit even slowly because it is being re-inforced by the powerful people around them and it keeps them locked in. Consciousness in general has to change as to the importance of power itself.
People get it in their head that it is their responsibility to change or save the world, this is a distraction because such a goal is not practical. What you CAN do is focus on yourself, when you better yourself you put yourself in a position to give others the inspiration and tools to improve themselves. If you think about a world of people improving themselves and inspiring others to improve themselves, the world improves, and it all began with you focusing on yourself and improving you.
If everyone was completely happy with any state of the world, ever, then there would be something completely wrong with the world again.
@kidd, I am always a tad scared of sounding like a hippie too, but yeah basically what you said. You said you think it may be impossible. Granted I definitely don’t think I will see it in my lifetime, but if I’m to live thinking that way I really need to believe it.
@biga69 I think if you want to change the world your perspective of changeing it should be re looked into aka politics shmolitics, and government conspiracys .Have you ever watched the documentary the Secret ? if not i highly recomend you do, the world rotates on the law of atracttion. What you envision and feel whether or not they be positive or negitive emotions, comes to you. You have attracted everything that has ever happened in your life, yes it sounds scary at first but when you learn the secret you’;ll be able to attract the right people, times,& circumstances to change the world.
because after all quoted by one of the greatest musicians ever, who changed the world and had a dream ” A dream we dream together is reality” John Lennon
