What I’m wondering is this: how can I draw ideas from my surroundings? As I’ve become a little older (thinking older people thoughts), I’ve started to feel more contained by reason and right and wrong. My artwork is beginning to suffer from this. What are some ways I can open my mind back up to a heavy creative flow?
While on drugs I kind of got this deeper insight into the personality of my extremely artistic friend. He seems to play with everything, and I think it’s something most people lose value in as we grow up. That’s why I find artists extremely attractive to me, they feature this playful eye for reality that brings out the child in me.
If you can learn how to play again and enjoy your moments and angles of perception, you will have more creative inspiration than you know what to do with.
How to play:
How to be a child :)
what I like to do is as I walk or experience through my daily life I try perceive shapes, patterns, abnormalities and the wonder instilled in the things we take for granted like airplane travel, or the vastness of our universe. look at the clouds like you were a kid and see those shapes, make the stories of why they are there, make yourself laugh. I also like to open a word document and just right down all my mental chatter no matter how simple or abstract or nonsensical, it has taught me not to be afraid of my thoughts or go against norms.
I believe one of the best ways to improve your creativity is to EXPERIENCE.
The most creative individuals are the ones who take chances, who travel, who never say no to anything and are completely open to every chance to learn something new.
I am convinced it is these individuals that are the most creative and successful..because they have a vast treasure trove of memories and experiences to tap into, remold, redesign and re-create to fit the problem or task needing to be solved.
