Thank the internet for HE. To show us that we want to make threads about something no one’s going to do – just make threads. Pathetic.
With every action we take, we lay down the foundations for our future. The potential to do good in the world has never been so high. Will you help to stop Kony, number #1 on the list of crimes against humanity, a guerilla leader in Africa who abducts and arms children, rapes and sells women and has been doing so for the past 20 years?
Watch this video, it is worth much more than your 30 minutes:
What will happen when we succeed? Will it mark the birth of a global justice that is unprecedented?
I would love to see what HE as a community can do. I would love to see our words in cyberspace having real impact.
Martijn, its great we can do something like this. Lets all unite our efforts.
its easy to become a registered member, i just became one. once you do that you can track your activity of shares and messages to ‘basically ppl who got the world by the balls’. and it looks real interesting.
sign up yeverebodey!
WOW, 20 years!! …how to change the world?..there you go!
Shared conscience just showed itself pretty clear – or it’s just that things spread fast arround the internet haha :D –

I’m not a very influential person and am not that good at talking to people but I’m a hell of a good night ninja and I can help too. I’m going to collect cans and use the money I get from them to make posters of kony on april 21st and paint the town so that everyone starts asking the question, “Who is kony?”. As long as you have an able body you can help too. You can be a force of changing the dialogue in your town.
It’s not just about him. It’s about this world, with all it’s inhabitants, caring about each other. It’s showing the world that we can change and that if we want to do good, and everyone helps what he can, we make it happen. If this works, it WILL mark the start of way of something new and beautiful. Of course he is a product of his environment, but with him gone, people won’t be a product of an environment with him. Baby steps :)
@martijn, I will be joining this movement, and I will be out in Philadelphia on April 20th. I’m sure there is a chapter in this city and I will be finding it.
This video has increased by 500,000 views on todays date, from yesterdays date. On March 4th this video was views 8 times, yesterday it was viewed 58,000 times, today it was viewed 600,000 times. It just went up 20k while I’m typing this. THIS IS A BIG FUCKING DEAL!
@tine I share your sentiment. Should we talk about this on this thread, or should we make another? Frankly if we come to the conclusion that this will most likely not help, I will still be bringing support to this issue.
Edit: Did the sign-up website crash?
I was just made aware of this post thanks to Gianpaolo. I wasn’t aware of it being posted already in my rush of sharing, lol.
Anyway, I admire this man’s resiliency in making a huge difference. It’s beautiful.
But most people aren’t doing it to change their world, they are going with the “flow” because being a fucking activist is cool now. Im all for action, but intelligence is required, and not based off of videos that tug at emotions, but rather cold hard factual evidence that is comprehended by those seeking to take action, which sadly is not the kind of crowd advocating for action in this instance (my personal observation).
I went straight to HE so I can post a DB about this video. But you already did!! Truly AWESOME :D
“It’s always been that the decisions made by the few with the money and the power dictated the prorities of the government and the stories in the media. They determine the lives and opportunities of their citizens. Now there is something bigger than that. The people in the world see each other and can protect each other. It’s turning the system upside down. And it changes EVERYTHING.”
“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
What I find interesting is that the timewave resonance of right now corresponds to the 1960’s. It probably has nothing to do with anything, but it is interesting how the 60’s were a time of joining in peace and love to stop war and killing, and now this is happening at the time that the timewave said it would. April 20, 2012 resonates with the ending of the year 1969.
Well, lets take this for what its worth. Here is an excerpt from http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=12429, a transparent charity website
“First of all as a person from Northern Uganda, I would like to thank you, the Martin County Children for your effort to assist the children of Northern Uganda.
How ever i am also sad to say that Organisation like ‘Invisible children’ have turned from caring organisations to Fraudulent and scam. The directors of Invisible children forgot what they stated back in 2005 and have now turned to greed. Only less than 25% of money they have been raising in the name of the children of Northern Uganda gets there to the children.
The directors of Invisible children have turned this money to become their very personal money. The directors now drive expensive cars and refer to themselves as Movie directors. They have been shunned by all international Northern Uganda associations in Canda, UK, Sweden and even in Sandiego USA.
Associations such as “acholi in diaspora”(canada) Acholi association(UK) Freinds for Peace in africa(USA). Peace in Northern Uganda group(Sweden). “Campaign to end genocide in Northern Uganada)(USA) and many more.
“invisible children’ functions are boycotted by many ugandans who are aware that they recieved bribes from General Salim Saleh to focus the suffering of the Northern Uganda Children to the Rebels…rather than tell the whole truth that both the rebels and Uganda government ave comitted atrocities and Genocide againts the acholi people of Northern Uganda..
Northern Uganda members of parliament have added ‘invisible children’ to their list Of NGO’s under investigation for fraud.
They have been requested to publicly declare their accounts since 2005 however untill today that has not been done.
Your contributions are better off being sent directly to the children in Northern Uganda rather than to enrich the directors of ‘invisible children’
However we leave it to God to be the judge. Thank you and God bless all of you.”
I still support the idea of making this guy known. If these guys want to call themselves “film makers” that is fine with me. Ultimately knowledge is power in this situation, and the more people who know who Kony is the better.
@nikola Not to be disrespectful but how can you really know that for sure though? How can you judge their intentions so quickly? You don’t know these people and what if they really were inspired by it and are now taking action? Yea there might be some people who are doing it because it’s “cool” but you can’t deny positive action when you see it. And it’s happening right now. No matter what you think people’s intentions are this advocated POSITIVE CHANGE. A change that has been waiting to happen. And that’s all that really matters in the end.
I think this whole scenario is way bigger than Kony.
I think that this/sopa/pipa/Egypt/Libya/occupy/whatever is a sign of a coming paradigm shift. Yes, Kony is committing horrifying atrocities that should never be tolerated. But, how many other human beings on earth are doing that? Countless number of humans are committing crimes against humanity by abusing their power.
The point I like to focus on is that ideas like this can and are being spread faster than anyone could have imagined 1/2/5/10/20/50 years ago. The power our generation/the world possesses to transfer an idea across borders and to all audiences is unprecedented. The whole Kony2012 movement is a testament to the fact that we are now able to oraganize, collaborate, and act against any injustice in this world; and do so at the speed of thought.
We’re on to somethin here folks; this is good
regardless of whether the Ugandan government is committing atrocities, Kony is a war criminal and needs to be put on trial by the ICC. if government generals continue committing atrocities, we can call for their arrest and trial as well but just because Kony isn’t the only one doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be stopped.
Whose to say Musevini isnt next?? all it takes is another well made video to go viral.
@sumtinprophetic “and do so at the speed of thought” now those words alone brought chills down my spine and a major smile to my face. The thought that a single thought can be spread to millions of minds in a matter of 24 hours is something people really need to really grasp before they insult the possibility of change in this world.
I honestly truly believe that it will be the artist of this world that will be leading the change in this world. There is something about images and music’s affect on our emotions that words have a hard time recreating. The artists ability to transform an idea, problem, or thought into an emotional roller coaster appealing to all the senses is a much easier medium for convincing an audience then mere words. You can see proof of this with the ever growing industry of documentaries and their rising budgets. I wouldnt be surprised if we started seeing hollywood/movie theatre top box office documentaries in the next few years that are the major reasons for paradigm shifts that are ever so essential for surviving tomorrow.
