Maurice Sendak
Maurice Sendak passed away this morning. I know I’ll miss him. I just kind of wanted to know what people on here thought about his impact he’s had during his life, he wrote many books, never considered himself a child book writer, but that’s how many people saw his books.
also, has anyone watched the documentary “Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak”? just curious on thoughts on that too if you have.
A short interview of Sendak in the film I would strongly advise watching… it’s so moving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U68bZbMM7q8&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLTC1m_F0MPjoO-bFmKpVASg

Also really digging what he said at the end of that video.
“I said anything I wanted because I don’t believe in children I don’t believe in childhood. I don’t believe that there’s a demarcation. ‘Oh you mustn’t tell them that. You mustn’t tell them that.’ You tell them anything you want. Just tell them if it’s true. If it’s true you tell them.”
