Valhalla Movement Update – 11/12/12

 Jordan Lejuwaan (@jordan) 5 years, 7 months ago

*** For those unfamiliar with the Valhalla Movement: Also be sure to read this article series: ***

It’s hard to believe this movement only started up 3 months ago. Since the last update we have…

– Been interviewed on a 8 min segment of the most popular talk radio show in Montreal
– Been featured on the local news
– Attended a 3 day Earthship conference where Michael Reynolds himself (founder of Earthships) taught us how to build Earthships
– Seen and worked on other Earthship projects
– Received dozens of emails from people either wanting to come help, or help remotely
– Launched the website:
– Planned out our first massive, two-story Earthship to be constructed as soon as the snow melts in Spring
– Threw a 250+ person party at our house to raise funds for solar panels (huge success)

Beyond those concrete actions, the vision for Valhalla has become much more clear over the last month.

As you can tell, everything is falling into place. The universe is obviously behind this project because the right people and resources continually pop up at the right time.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for the website, specifically for making what we are doing more clear!

Much love <3

@jordan, it’s the best thing ever…and you’re doing it. Pretty sweet stuff. Sure would have loved to be at that party =)

Its cosmic man.
Ment to be on every level. :)

It just makes sense.

Were going to be the face of human evolution.
….we already are in my book. ;D

Ive been bumping into many likeminded individuals even down here in the hood now. And every single person I mention the community plans to has become an instant supporter. Things are going to keep speeding up exponentially from here!

I came across the idea of earthships here on HE, now my partner and I are planning on building a 4bedroom earthship here in New Zealand when we get back from Australia. I have hopes of building a second two bedroom one too, and using it as a way of spreading awareness about self sufficiency.

This project that you are doing is amazing. Its showing people an alternative way of living, that our current system of living isn’t the only way. I think most people are aware that we need change, but they are too scared to think of it as they assume that it means giving up all the little things that come with a 21st century lifestyle. I have hopes that projects like this, and the Zeitgeist Movement ( if it hasn’t lost all momentum), will give people hope, set society on the right path and ultimately save Life.

I just hope you guys don’t get too much attention from society and the media. The media has this uncanny ability to slandered, demonize and distort you guys.

Jordan Lejuwaan (23,417)A (@jordan) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@grandkintaro777, It’d be pretty hard to demonize building homes that are 100% green. Plus as they say, any publicity is good publicity. The people who we need on this project will see right through any BS.

Hahaha wow, see THIS is flow, inspired action, AKA doing it right.

So stoked to see how this turns out.

Keep up the awesome work.

@bronzefish, yo alice let me know if you ever get this started… i am a source of free labour! haha. This would be such an opportunity.

@jordan, I am in love with this project and definitely plan to find a way to support it as it grows, I do have criticisms about the clarity of the website though. I found your third article on here to give wayyyyyyy more info and a clear picture of your goals than the valhalla website itself does. I feel like there’s a lot of random things in the media section that (though they might have a similar message) don’t contribute to understanding what Valhalla is. That wouldn’t really bother me except that I went there searching for more information because I didn’t feel like I found it anywhere else on the site. I think if you take the nicely broken-down information from the third article and put it somewhere (easily to find) on the valhalla site, that would make things way more clear.
Also, I feel like the video gives 0 information about what the project itself is. Maybe that’s what you were going for? Just to intrigue people visually so that they look up valhalla for themselves? But I’d like there to be a video that lays out the goals and what you’re doing to get there and the motivation behind it, it’d be a nice way to be able to share this project with others.
Sorry to be so critical ! I just really want to be able to spread this idea to others and have them understand without having to do all the reading I did (most people lose interest once you tell them they have to read several pages).
Best of luck guys ! I’m really really rooting for this to be a huge success.

@jordan, I don’t post much but i’ve been following the site for a while, yet I somehow hadn’t read about this yet- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS MAN! I’ve been reading on here for about a year now and i’ve been exposed to a lot of really great things/ideas, as well as reaffirmed that some of my own thoughts weren’t completely off the charts nuts, but I have to say, this one takes the cake. For the past year or so I’ve been planning a move to Tennessee with some friends and something like this has been what we all envisioned, but this lays it all out! We have made decent progress as far as planning and finances, but some aspects of this project really helped a couple of things click for me! I really can’t thank you enough for all the ways this site has helped me along in this recent period of change and awakening in my life, and this project just adds to that list!

<3 you guys at Valhalla. Keep up the good work.

Jordan Lejuwaan (23,417)A (@jordan) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@vernalsoul, Thank you, that is exactly the criticism I was looking for! We are in the process of shooting a really cool mission video right now to put on the site, but I’ll add more info to the mission page as well. Thanks again for taking the time to review the site.

@ewingt22, :) Thank you so much for the kind words. I hope your vision in Tennessee takes off! There are so many factors to consider when creating a community like this (as we’ve discovered…) so don’t hesitate to ask about anything we’re doing.

@groig22, <3 <3 <3

@jordan, you should think (long run) about how to instruct people to set up seed-communities.

What worked, what didn’t.
How did you get so many people to join up?
Where was the funding?
How did you pick your spot, and how did you get it?

I think this stuff is more down the road, but I hope you’re storing the answers to these kind of questions now. Writing a book, on top of your blogs would possibly be a great enhancement to getting your message out.

After I’m done with all this B.S. school work, I’d like to start one in a more… acceptable… climate :)

VernalSoul (598) (@vernalsoul) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, I was thinking the same thing :P Build one in Colorado with me in a couple years ?

Cody (472) (@versai) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

“The universe is obviously behind this project because the right people and resources continually pop up at the right time.”

My favorite part! Progress really can be measured with those synchronicities that let everything fall into place. I wish you guys more success, eventually it will be my turn to help when you need it.

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@vernalsoul, I was thinking northern cali :P

Patrick (2) (@pwalsh27) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@jordan is there a reason why you chose Montreal and not a more suitable climate like @ijesuschrist suggests?

Dino (20) (@nosorozh) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

too many people would come at once if it was in a warmer place :)

Tony (21) (@antlob) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, Northern cali, yes please. Sign me up :D

VernalSoul (598) (@vernalsoul) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, …..i can settle for cali. :P

Anonymous (2,833) (@) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@vernalsoul, @antlob, okie dokie.

now, contact me in 5.5 years

Jordan Lejuwaan (23,417)A (@jordan) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, That’s the entire point of Valhalla — creating a template for this to be repeated :)

@pwalsh27, Marc owns 60 acres of land in Montreal. The next one will def be in a warmer climate. As a Cali boy, I know what you’re saying haha. It’s getting coooolllddddd

First of all; up most respect for you and your ambitions.

Secondly; One if my dads dreams is to live sustainably, however he is a deeply analytical and consequential thinker, so sometimes the possible negative outcomes are given more weight in his mind as a reality than the positive and often more likely outcomes. Basically I’m asking for any books, videos or websites that delineate the whole idea of earth-ships, I wanna be able to market this shit to him! Since your building a community of em I guess you’d be the person to ask about this kind of info.

Jøshua (0) (@tantchula) 5 years, 7 months ago ago,

I’m completely behind this project. The concept for a 100% sustainable life style is an idea that is absolutely too great to fail. I’m am really glad that the Valhalla Movement is setting a positive example for society. I think all humans deserve to have the option to have a home that is a environmentally friendly and 100% sustainable home. I just hope that one day i can join a project like this that is building these homes for everyone that wants it for FREE. Until my dreams come true however, i aspire to learn all i can about earth ships and will be in college for some sort of sustainable technology. If anyone ever needs help building an earth ship or starting a similar project one day contact me. i’ll will work just for the experience and knowledge.

Also i was wondering if someone in the movement tried getting some small businesses to sponsor the Project for advertising there work? It may requiter some smooth businessman to convenes them that your project is going to blow up in the media. Thus effectively advertising their product. Or have you guys thought about making a kickstarter ad on

Marc (163) (@rusty16x) 5 years, 7 months ago ago

@tantchula, We already have a garden center sponsor as well as a water filtration system sponsor! We will be looking for more sponsorship deals and exchanges in future as well!

We also have lots of plans to start a dope kickstarter! :)

It’s all in the works – definitely check back for more info in near future!
