We are all the same person, one soul (a lesson in human empathy)

Before you let the little gears in your brain kick in and let your thoughts fire into defensive mode.. stop for a while and just listen. I just want to talk and let my thoughts flow through your head.

We are all the same person: one soul, one living thing that has come to experience life as individuals. We believe ourselves to be our bodies because we experience everything through the body. But ponder this: what is the difference between you and I? The color of your hair? The color of my eyes? The pigment of my skin? Your height? My gender?

Or is it beyond physical? What is the difference? Is it because you are Christian? Is it because I am atheist? Is it because you love animals? And I hate them? Or maybe you are a violent individual and I am pacifist? …

Of course all these questions are hypothetical. But they serve my point that we are ultimately the same soul living separate lives. Think of the minuscule differences that separate us. We are all born into this world against our will: given a body, a face, a voice, a mind that is all unique to each one of us. We were each put into certain families with all sorts of differing and similar personalities and we were each faced with unique circumstances and obstacles in life… so what does this all mean?

It means that I am me because of the circumstance I was placed in and the things that were decided for me (physical features, mental capabilities) and ultimately the decisions I made (based on my unique human nature). I would BE you if I were given your circumstances and your body. Down to the last thought. You think the way you do because that is what a person like you would think. We are all the best copies of ourselves.

But what does that mean?… The question remains. But I think the answer is that we must learn to empathize for one another. When you argue, understand that the opposing argument is made by someone who went through a different situation in life and thus causes them to take the stance that best fits them (in the same manner that you feel that your stance best fits you and is also the right stance).

You must understand that you think a certain way because of the things you have gone through and thus your perception of right is your own. Another person has gone through his or her own struggles and has tailored their beliefs according to their experiences.

Next time you get caught up in an argument understand, that ultimately, you are arguing with yourself… not literally, but with another part of yourself. This person has a different and unique experience in life and they are trying to be the most genuine person they can be by expressing their opinion on their own terms. Topics like gun control and abortion for example: may the debates continue so that a unified solution may be created, but do not let anger or other forms of negativity get in the way.

Be more tolerant of people and understand that they are the way they are not because they want to taunt you or anger you with their existence.. but because they are being themselves and sometimes it’s hard to like someone for who they are. You must understand that if you were in their shoes and had their past you may then understand why they think the way they do.

That is all. Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,
Egarim

Somewhat true. I can see people talking about DNA, relativity and chaos theories, uniqueness, causes of striving, chemical reactions in climate, the natural environment and living conditions, how they affect personalities, races and their ultimate cursing over each other’s lineage to protect what they love most about themselves and overgeneralize human behavior.

Thanks for the post. I have a dilemma whether or not to learn how to be more tolerant to stupidity and never accept my own. Quite empathic.

“and they are trying to be the most genuine person they can be by expressing their opinion on their own terms.” I’d agree with this, but the naiveness in it and knowing the cause of genuineness won’t let me. There can’t be equality in empathy and we’re not the same person and one soul, when time is more precious for everyone separately and personally, but balance is essential

@danfontaine, I wanna try some of what you’re drinking.

@egarim, @beyond, to build on the genuine, naivety and empathy relationship,

I think this is why honest self reflection is such an important tool in the evolution of our global consciousness. If everyone (or most everyone) isn’t operating on the same level of honesty, WITH THEMSELVES, the goal, or end to whatever means this aspect of the journey holds, doesn’t seem to be attainable. On an individual level, sure, I just don’t know how far it will take you on your own. Group activities always bring more “reaping” so to speak,
I’m sure there’s a better word for that, though, its just language

@cosmicplur, Really agree on your point about being honest with yourself. I think everyone should ‘practice’ that on a daily basis and ask themselves about the motivation behind every action, admitting mistakes, admitting why they did something or didn’t; admitting who they really are and how they are contributing to this world with their own words, thoughts, actions, etc.

@ashtonbrainwavelove, absolutely, and us being aware of this, with knowledge comes responsibility, if you care at all that is, lol.

It’s something to keep in mind esp when we interact with people, probing conversations,

I should elaborate more on this, but its not my time. At least I got an idea rolling (:

@egarim, I whole heartedly agree with your message <3

@drunkmonkmeth, There’s nothing wrong with human conflict, just like there’s nothing wrong with a heart attack… it just IS. However, the organism having a heart attack, any sort of conflict, isn’t going to function very well. Conflict can bring about clarity though once it’s worked through. I’m just kind of going in a circle here elaborating on what you said ;) But… ideally speaking, for the whole, we’d all be a lot ‘happier’ and could get more accomplished (for ourselves AND for each other) without conflict getting in the way. However, that time won’t come until we’re ready and evolved as a whole.

@cosmicplur, @emily, @cloudstuck,
I tried:) Thanks peoples, it’s always nice to get some love. More importantly we gotta practice more empathy.. it teaches us to break through from being an individual and learning to think as more than ourselves.. it’s like slowly becoming whole again.

@manimal,
Fair enough haha, it’s not like I made this just for you (but in a way I guess I did cause that was the whole point of the post). I just gotta ask, what’s the point of saying that it was too long to read? Haha why waste your breath unless you’re trying to elicit some sort of negative response from me?

Might as well not post and moved on to the next topic. But I guess I’m losing sight of my own lesson if I can’t accept you for who you are. So I’ll leave it at that. Good day:)

After revisiting my old threads I stumbled upon this one. It made me realize that I’ve lost sight of my own lesson lately. A lot of people have. We have all been overreacting to the opinions of others (opinions they are entitled to have).

In my recent thread about suicide, a lot of people are passionately taking sides and the debate is more of an argument and name-calling than anything else.

I apologize to everyone, but specifically to a couple HEthens (they know who they are).

@egarim, it is hard to emphatize with someone if you dont understand the person, and some people are not good at expressing their feelings or lie to themselves and others so how are we suppose to feel their stance if we dont know where they really stand anyway..and then you have people that are just different with different believes and different opinions and different likes and dislikes and different standards or just a whole different world view, it is really hard to emphatize with someone that does not act in a way that is logical on a feeling level for you.

How, your little gears in your brain kicked in and wrote this article.

I don’t think you understand yourself how we are all the same ‘person’, because your explanantion is so fucking complicated.

We are the same person, because everything exists of energy and our brain separates me from you.
On another platform, all the smallest particles are the same and therefore we exist out of the same matter.

Oh and I never will apologize for my opinion, I don’t give a fuck if you are offended by them, that’s your problem.

@livelifeloving, one consciousness living as different persons, animals, plants, rocks, etc. Everything can be alive if you want it to be. Knowing the aliveness of everything is not a mind state or belief, but means you have become equalized with your own point of consciousness.

Let everything go where it goes, stay as the observer, empty, free and become the bliss that others want to taste.

@livelifeloving,

Haha I like it. Good, your comment is utterly pointless then because I don’t care either. I can deduce that you have some sort of personality disorder.. I never said anything to you or that I was offended. Haha talking to yourself?

But in a world where I would care I must say that your explanation for why we are the same person is utterly stupid. Same energy does not constitute being the same person. My explanation entails that we are the same person because all people are modes of experience: we share conscious experience therefore we are basically separate only in perception. You didn’t choose the situations or body that you were given, neither did anyone else: we are all the “experiencer” of a role we were given. Next time you judge a person know that they are you living a different life. They are the way they are naturally, as are you. Therefore everyone is right in their beliefs because we are all the main characters of our own stories. More in depth then merely saying such an elementary idea that everything is energy so we must be the same… that is an unwarranted conclusion. Energy takes on different forms so it separates and unites. Experience is a conscious state that is shared. You probably don’t follow.

Anyways, have a good day, I’ve seen enough pettiness to understand that all a person like yourself wants is to be challenged… something I am not childish enough for:)

@heartbeat,

I understand, my explanation is my attempt to help you understand true empathy. Of course, some people are violent, hateful, and illogical… so it may seem difficult to empathize.

What I am trying to say in my post is that you can better empathize if you understand why some people are the way they are. You are being you right? Well, they are being them. Even if that means being a KKK member or a hateful racist. You can’t ask people to be something they are not.

Once you understand that everyone is trying to be themselves you will learn to accept and empathize. You cannot possibly understand their point of view until you learn to see outside of yourself and in their shoes: they had a different upbringing, body, and life situation.

That is all. Thank you for your thoughts.

Building on that. I believe that when we die, we are not constrained to time anymore, and like all objects in the universe, exist in all dimensions. That you experience all lives around you through seperate lives. In all dimensions also means all other possible timelines in this universe, and all other possible universes. When you die you are no longer constrained to a body that can only percieve 4 dimensions (Hight, with, dept and time). And simply exist in all dimensions at all times simultaniously. This means that you are simply existence itself, and are experience your own multiverse through the things that can percieve within it. So that does make the case that a stone is not alive, though being a part of you, thus part of your own existence. Your soul. You are your own god, so to say.
