What is the most valuable thing in life?

Profile photo of silence silence (@jaime.pryor0) 3 years, 11 months ago

An age old question, I know. But really, what is the most important thing in life? Some people say money, some say love, some say ‘living’, and some people even believe that sexual love is more important than anything. I know what I believe, but I am curious to know what other see as most valuable. Please, leave a comment, and if you know why, write that too.

@jaime.pryor0, probably your health, because without it, you can’t do much.

the most valuable thing I have is my heart. The most valuable “thing” is the Holy Spirit, and to that I cannot ascribe a value, just as you should never ask how much a gift costs.

I would say love and compassion, without these two abilities the world would not exist. We are slowly killing ourselves and the planet, but those who love and care are what save us.

I can’t help but find that a redundant question…The Life people have is the most valuable thing they have…and then asking what is the most valuable thing in life?.
“I own the most valuable thing in existence, now what is more valuable?”

But maybe not, I have no proof for either case.

@jaime.pryor0, Why? You have no idea what’s of value to you? I think you’re pathetic.

Do you believe this question without context could mean anything?

Nothing more to say.

@jaime.pryor0, The most important thing to me other than my mind and the ability to experience conscious thoughts (some of us forget about that one) would be my best friend Candace. We have known each other for over 10 years, we live together, and have lived very different lives but we think and process things in a similar way and can just sit and talk for hours about complex topics like quantum mechanics and we enjoy feeding off of each others thoughts and identifying our different perspectives. I would take a bullet for her and I couldn’t imagine life without her.

@beyond, He clearly stated he knew what he believed to hold the most value, he just was curious of others ideas. Please refrain from insulting people, that’s not the kind of environment HE is striving for.

Fair market value is defined as based on what a knowledgeable, willing, and unpressured buyer would probably pay to a knowledgeable, willing, and unpressured seller in the market. So let me view your question of value from the standpoint first of buyer then of seller and both in light of this definition.

As a buyer there is nothing I want which I don’t have so I would not be willing to pay anything. Therefore, as a buyer, nothing is of value to me.

As a seller I would not part with anything I have for I know that I am the sum of all that is and would not be the same with the loss of any. So as a seller all is equally dear and priceless even though it was freely given to me.

Therefore, for all practical purposes, I have no values.

Value is a word that your mind creates to identify with an object or thing that you own, or want to own, or that someone else owns, so that they can feel bigger or better or worth more than someone else.. Value is for the ego and the realm of form.. Everything has its place and could never be of more importance than anything else.. to say so at all is to try and make something “worth” more than someone or something else.. Does an oak tree care about the most valuable thing in life? Does a cat think about the most valuable thing in life? Does a rock value anything? Human beings are the only beings on the planet that “value” anything..as well as the only beings on the planet that pollute and destroy the place we call home… hrm.. maybe these two things are related?

@jaime-pryor0,

I say awareness.

Its a little hard to describe but I think just being aware of all these wonderful things like love, life, and everything in general is what has real value, not the indivisual things themselves. Once you don’t have love, your sad. When someone loses their life, depending on how they went, its sad.

Awareness is different though. I don’t think you can ever lose it per say. Just being aware something or becoming aware of something is a really great feeling to me.

The most valuble thing in life is emotion. Without it we have no joy, happiness, sadness, or desire. Emotion gives us desire and favored choice. Without favor of choice we would not care to live passionately, which is a mix of emotions. Emotion is what drives all to want, and what drives some to do.

Time. Once you spent time doing something you can’t get it back, you can’t earn more, unlike money.
