what book is this from?
The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom. It is a very interesting book,
uhhhhhhhh,,,,, bird’s migrate from cold climates to warmer climates. The climate in one area changes because of the season. A season is what? A measure of time!
So yeah. Animals might not keep track of time itself but they do rituals that have certain prerequisites that are related to time. So yeah this quote is kind of stupid.
seasons have nothing to do with time. yes they happen periodically but they’re caused by the rotation of the earth not time itself. anyway, the book doesn’t say animals are not affected by time, it simply says it’s irrelevant to them because they don’t keep track of it or perceive it as we do.
I work for myself and make my own schedule, so I don’t technically need to take note of the time of date very often. But I still do. Do we have an obsession with time tracking? What would it feel like to completely lose track of time for a year?
Even if you’re self employed, you still have activities you have to start or finish at intended time. Tracking time makes us feel in control.
It’s hard to say what it would be like to forget the watch, but think of the times you actually did forget time. For hours, or possibly days, the current number on your watch did not mean anything to you. I’d say it feels like freedom. One less root to mundane everyday life. But to be in that state for a year, maybe forever? Flying all over the place, although completely ungrounded. Whether it would be worth it is up to you to believe, but I’d think that periodically watching time is necesarry, although it’s important to not make it your master.
I believe its from The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
Fear can be motivating to help understand the value of Time……..
