One of my favorite quotes is Mark Twain's famous statement; "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." I often find myself in situations were this quote comes in handy as it reminds me to not overreact to every "stupid" person I run into. I also would prefer to think of these people in Twains' statement as being "negative" as opposed to "stupid" due to my disliking of the word stupid as a personal characteristic. Nonetheless, one should never let another individual put them down in any pessimistic fashion, whether directly or indirectly. More simply, if you are bettering yourself and developing action plans that will allow you to achieve your goals, do not let anyone stop you if they are doing so out of "negativity" as opposed to constructive criticism. Learning to not let other people's negativity control your decisions is one of the main steps to achieving one's personal goals. There will always be someone out there who will put your ideas and action plans down. Developing your psyche to ignore this negativity will not only make you happier due to the fact that you will not care about what other people think, but it will also allow you more freedom to pursue what you desire without any external barriers.
