Some beautiful words from Abraham Maslow’s classic book Motivation and Personality:
“Self-actualizing people have the wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder, and even ecstasy, however stale these experiences may have become to others — what C. Wilson has called “newness.”
Thus for such a person, any sunset may be as beautiful as the first one, any flower may be of breath-taking loveliness, even after he has seen a million flowers. The thousandth baby he sees is just as miraculous a product as the first one he saw.
He remains as convinced of his luck in marriage thirty years after his marriage and is as surprised by his wife’s beauty when she is sixty as he was forty years before. For such people, even the casual workaday, moment-to-moment business of living can be thrilling, exciting, and ecstatic.
These intense feelings do not come all the time; they come occasionally rather than usually, but at the most unexpected moments. The person may cross the river on the ferry ten times and at the eleventh crossing have a strong recurrence of the same feelings, reaction of beauty, and excitement as when he rode the ferry for the first time.”
🍄 Psychedelic Renaissance
Yesterday Oregon legalized Medical Mushrooms. Licensed providers will be allowed to administer psilocybin to individuals 21 years of age or older. Other parts of the country have decriminalized the use of psilocybin, but this measure makes Oregon the first to permit legal use supervised by therapists.
Washington DC also overwhelmingly passed Initiative 81 to decriminalize entheogens capturing over 76% of the vote. This initiative includes plants and fungi that contain ibogaine, dimethyltryptamine, mescaline, psilocybin, or psilocyn.

🖥 A Holographic Tablet
The Lume Pad uses light-field technology to create 3D holograms. This literally adds a dimension to what you’re able to see on the screen. It will even enable you to convert your existing 2D photos and videos into holographic content. Co-Founder Charles Fink explains in an interview with Forbes.
“Today, we’re at the point where we have an excellent technology that can create holographic content for most 2D pictures on a Lightfield display, whether that’s a portrait shot, a landscape, food or otherwise.
Once you can convert 2D pictures, the next step is to convert them fast enough that you can actually create Lightfield content from any type of 2D file format, such as 2D video. Right now, that’s what we’re working on – taking any kind of 2D content, and converting it to light field content on the fly.”
