“Take a look at this self, which thinks your thoughts and moves your body. If it truly thinks your thoughts then it must exist apart from those thoughts. Pay attention to your experience; do you experience this self outside of thought?”
This seems to be the crux of his argument. If this is not true, then my whole point may be off base buuuttttt……
The answer to this question (“do you experience this self outside of thought?”) is yes. All of our sensory input, confirms our existence, outside of our own thoughts. If you don’t exist, you wouldn’t be able to feel the chair your sitting in, listen to the music coming from your computer, or even see the screen.
Basically all, stephen is doing is manipulating the definition of self.

“When you start with meditation it might be easy to count from one to ten every time you finished an outbreath (or inbreath, doesn’t really matter). This way it is easier to become more mindful (to notice that you lost your focus on the sensation of your breath). Sometimes you realize you are already at number 20!”
I didn’t really understand the counting part. Please elaborate further

I’m down! Am actually reading for my psych class about Moral Feeling right now and just learned that that warm, tingling glowy feeling radiating from your chest is called ‘elevation’. Thought it was pretty fitting for the first High Existence Experiment o be about ‘elevation’
