The paradox is: that very noise is making us seek silence more deeply and stronger and on a larger scale than every before. That is the ultimate knowledge: the day when the very end is near, your insight will be greater than ever before. The day when the world might go down (if it every will) will lead to the deepest and most blissful moment in history. Duality cannot be solved by blaming one side- we have to understand the entirety of it and transcend it – reach its origin. Then we cannot find fault in the world (duality) but only hope for its return to the source.

There is a very special reason for Goenka to say to only follow one meditation technique. Then others , like Osho, recommend to do various types. In the end both of them are right – thats the paradox. In these matters you will not be able to point your finger and say: this is the correct way! Its mostly about your own devotion to the technique, to the teacher, to your practice. Krishna for instance also says, just follow me and you will be free! Jesus says the same! They know, the way is everywhere, but why make one step in this and one step in that direction if you can walk straight? Everyone who will every reach the final goal of liberation (liberation from the illusion) will understand the way his teachers showed, but will also understand the teacher who before was in apparent opposition. So listen to your feeling most of all. But when doing a retreat, trust the teacher and follow his advise. When you can fully trust the teacher, your mind can work very well and make a lot of progress. Progress being measured in mind becoming clearer, thoughts dissoliving, confusion clearing. Until you have an empty mind. Any technique will sooner or later bring you to this important stage and then its just a matter of staying in that silent empty mind until illumination happens.

There is a reason for everything in this course. If you simply follow the meditation nothing should be bothering you about it :) I mean initially there will be this resistance and there will be critic about all the many things that you mentioned- no problem at all. but what i am trying to say is that once you go on a deeper level you will understand the reason why Goenka does it the way he is doing it and you will not be able to find a single point of criticism. Try to see it in a different light – criticising arises only because something you don’t understand yet, not yet enough clarity, and therefore you resist, you built up tension against this ‘weirdness’. its part of the ego. if you can overcome it, you will not find any fault in the teaching (not a single thing) and you surrender in tears to your old ignorance. and overcoming is only possible if you surrender fully and always come back to technique and not to get stuck in your mind.
One very important stage is letting go of great fantastic insights. don’t write them down, stay equanimous and let them pass. they will remain anyways. thats the teaching – let stuff come and go and stay calm, its always within reach. nothing is going anywhere. :)
