Sex and feeding are survival behaviours, but not gluttony and wasted lust.

How to Avoid The Negative Pull of Behavioral Gravity

Hello Steve! I study Psychology at Leeds Beckett university too. I filled in the survey for your research on purpose of life the other day. It’s weird how a few days later i came across this article on High Existence, which i’ve been following for about 3 years, from the same person! There is a problem with this animating force you are talking about vs the Intelligent designer which my mind is stuck at. Keywords: cause and effect, infinite regression, FREE WILL.

I would be interested what you say to that; it will greatly help me! Here is what i have thought…

Either way the cornerstone of all theistic and nontheistic religions and belief systems (including atheism which is also a belief system) is basically that all-pervading force with the major difference being whether it is a neutral animating “substance” or the super-intelligent, creative and omnipotent mind or personality (personalities in monotheisms) which is often ascribed those consolationst characteristics (merciful, all-loving). In atheism the equivalent is probably referred to as dark energy.

According to Einstein’s law of cause and effect ALL events has a cause whether direct or indirect. Therefore, the Universe (effect) must have a cause – Big Bang (the accepted scientific explanation). The Big Bang (now the effect) must have a cause- “?” At this point the God-believers are consoled since they close the infinite chain of the regressive causal questions a la “what caused the cause that caused the cause, which caused the CAUSE…?” with “GOD”. Others keep looking and keep trying to come up with (even more ridiculous and also untestable/magical) explanations such as “The Big Bang was caused by repulsive gravity” or the Swiss cheese analogy etc. The infinite regression might keep providing answers but it will never give the Answer as to the origin of everything.

That is the problem with the animating force instead of the Intelligent designer. In the inconceivable by the conceptual human mind primordial void i.e. when spacetime and matter did not exist NO EVENTS (i.e. no causes=no effects) were possible. NOTHING existed…well apart from this neutral personality-less animating force…supposedly. But in the state where no events are possible by definition (nothing can happen where there is no spacetime) what was the primordial Cause? How can this force make something happen since it is mindless and personality-less? I mean it does not have free will.

I wonder what the colour represents here if anything?

Whar attracted me to try out the Uberman cycle was the lucid dreaming which has been my obsession for about 1.5 year now when i found out about it. I never had it before and didn’t believe such a thing is possible. I have been researching different methods to lucid dream from mediattion techniques to supplements and the Uberman… However, after my research on that i really doubt that it will actually get you to have more vivid/lucid dreams… any dreams at all because depriving yourself of sleep so much is more likely to deprive yourself of the REM sleep whatsoever. The reason is that the body will crave rest and will have more of the non-REM sleep because non-REM is the phase which is the deep regenerative sleep and not the REM one!

I have tried the Uberman one which i managed to sustain for almost 3 days. The most difficult time was the 10-15 minutes after waking up from a 20 min nap when i literally had to drag myself out of bed but after i did that it was not too bad, tired of course but it was bearable. Just fight the demons in those 10 min period after waking up from every nap.

Also having a crazy friend who will be excited to try that with you is a good idea, same principle as with a gym buddy and it gets you into competitive spirit! I am going to Everyman over the summer when i graduate from college!
