Life Philosophy

My philosophy is constantly evolving as my paradigm shifts. Learning is endless. I was born to be a seeker… to seek life and love and and the universe.

I am...

unemployed (I just quit my job)! After spending the past 3 1/2 years working in Barrow, Alaska (furthest town north in the USA), I decided to quit my job, sell almost all of my possessions, and move to Medellin, Colombia for 1 year. Everyone thinks I’m crazy. But, I’m thinking this next year will be an amazing year of personal growth and experiences of a lifetime.

I am a wanderer, and I hope this site can inform me of new ideas and perspectives as well as an opportunity to meet unique new friends around the world.

Quotes

“There is a view, a basic assumption of society – the view, seldom expressed, but strongly rooted, that the plight of the unfortunate is a result of their own laziness, and the wealth of the rich the reward of superior virtue.” – Unknown

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them. – HDT

“The scholar has an obligation to see the world clearly, not severely influenced by traditional and historical views, and to broaden his understanding of the world from fresh eyes, to defer never to the popular one.” RWE

“Truth only reveals itself when one gives up all preconceived ideas.” – Shoseki Ok

“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it is lethal.”

“The wisdom is in the moments when the madness slips away and we remember the basics” – Willie Nelson

Books

I read any chance I get so there are soooo many books! Too many to think about… I’ll list a few good ones I’ve most recently read.

Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit by Daniel Quinn
Open Veins of Latin America by Isabella Allende
The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto Che Guevara
Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosely

Music

I love a little bit of everything, but I’ve had a hard time appreciating or enjoying some of the newer music today. I prefer music from the 70’s 80’s and 90s.

Film & TV

Pan’s Labyrinth, Tombstone, The Secret of NIMH, Sin Nombre, City of God, Once Were Warriors

The Wire, Sons of Anarchy, sporting events… Don’t watch all that much TV
