I think trying to give up television is a great idea. Lately developed a habit of spending too much time in front of the tv and would like to start putting my time towards better and more productive things. Great suggestions by the way Riley, i’ll add to the list!

-Drawing, Sketching, Painting; No need to over commit to a drawing or painting, simply have fun with it and exercise your creativity!
-Meditative activities; Try to remain aware throughout your daily activities, a meditation like mindset can be achieved and practiced anytime, you needn’t be in the typical setup to enjoy.
-Playing an instrument; Again, no need over commit or even worry about skill level, just play around and relax. Great way to direct your focus.
-Reading; What’s most important is finding where your interest lies. Find a subject or author you find interesting and use that as a starting point. A great way to find most books is online, through torrent or other means. Audiobooks are great too for those who would rather listen!
-Music; Expand your musical horizons using playlist type websites (eg. which find similar artists to your taste, check forums for other peoples favourites (The Damn Good Music List!) and ask your friends what they’ve been listening to lately.

That’s a great quote, we must often break away from tradition before we realize our true potential and what we are capable of. My quote, somewhat related..
