I love this question because it leads so easily into metaphor.
I play cribbage all the time. I do play to win, but if I knew there wasn’t winning I would play completely differently. Instead of keeping points I have for sure I would go for fantastic but unlikely hands. In the end I may have fewer points but I would have seen some awesome hands.

I also play golf and tennis where I feel the same thing may apply. I would take more risks. I would rather see one fantastic shot and four fails than five decent shots.

Its all about risk vs. reward and when the risk is removed (losing) there is no downside to going big.
