@xyver, Exactly. Apple has become infamous for their incremental changes to their product lines, releasing multiple versions each year. While one could throw Moore’s Law into the debate here and argue that technology is advancing faster, it doesn’t change the fact that they milk the false novelty of each product for all it’s worth.

@jakehay, Apple does indeed withhold available tech, but so does every other tech company out there. It’s impossible to have the very best phone available because as soon as you manufacture it it’s obsolete. By the time a product like an iPhone is fully developed and distributed, it’s no longer as good as it could be, because it was built around tech that was available months prior to release.

Not saying it isn’t fucked up that companies intentionally give us obsolete products, but there is a natural foundation for the concept. A natural foundation which is exploited for profit, like everything else.
