@aliwine, I think there needs to be massive amount of change in our system of raising children. You’re right that a lot of the blame needs to be put in the parents’ hands. Unfortunately, parents don’t want to be blamed for when their children are too difficult to handle.
When someone fails at life, it’s because of drugs, alcohol, perversion, sinfulness, peer pressure, etc. No one says, “Well, his parents let him go out at night whenever he wanted,” or, “His parents ignored him so he sought attention from peers.” But when the person succeeds, “If it weren’t for my dad who pushed me to get here… My mom who supported me all the way,” blah blah blah.
No. That double standard doesn’t work that way. For once, I’d like to hear a major figure in the world say something like, “The Manson Family killed all those people because their parents were shitbags who mistreated or ignored their kids, and the greatest music to come out from the 60’s and 70’s is thanks to the amount of drugs that were being used.”
