@linds, “when you earn more, you pay more” How does that not make sense? If you earn more you can afford to pay more. If you earn less, your tax is less. It keeps the system functioning. It makes me so frustrated to see people getting mad at those receiving welfare. I don’t know about you, but I fucking love that I live in a country where if I need help, I know I have help accessible. It’s so fucking privileged to look down on those who have put up their hand and admitted that they’re having a hard time getting by. I don’t mind paying nearly a third of my pay in order to ensure a basic living standard for those in my country with me and to know that if I need it one day the government is in a position to help me out. If you’re able to help, why wouldn’t you… This essentially is the huge difference between America and the rest of the developed world. Americans tend to have the “each man for himself” mind-set and the results kinda speak for themselves.
