@iammrself, @moonglade, @theskafish, @jamesjohnson, @travis,

I actually think that the Affordable Health Care Act is good in the sense that if you want health insurance which helps you lower the cost of your medical bill, you can get it no matter your condition now. Before hand if health insurance companies found you too much at risk or too costly, they could deny you even if you really needed it. Now they can’t.

What’s bullshit is this. Obama passes the act that doesn’t allow health insurance companies to deny people anymore, yet somehow someone comes to the conclusion that the “only way” to make sure health insurance companies can afford this is to make health insurance mandatory for everyone? That’s not making any sense to me. There’s still a big problem. With things set up like that, it doesn’t help everyone. It only helps people who can actually afford their own health insurance, and exempts the penalty from those who can’t. The people who can’t afford health insurance are still going to have really high medical bills. That doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t that why the act was passed in the first place?

Now I don’t know much about the government and how the finances work, but how come they couldn’t have made an actual tax out of this? If this was made into a tax, which is taken from people’s paychecks, then that would actually bring in more money than a mandatory monthly bill and actually helps everyone. The people who can’t afford health insurance would just have a cheaper tax I guess. The only reason they didn’t make this into a tax is probably because they would have to pay all that money back to the taxpayers at some point and maybe they can’t do that, I don’t know.

I would really like to know how other countries make this work as a tax? And I don’t think anyone is being “selfish” for not wanting this mandatory health insurance because its not making a lot of sense.

Anyone who can elaborate and make more sense of anything, please do.
