At times the doubt crept in, and the stress of daily living has kept the lie alive that you were destined for the ordinary world.

But the voice of greatness can never truly die.

You mustered the strength to break the illusions of your situation and pursue the path of transforming yourself, becoming better, and creating a positive impact on the world.

You made the first Ascent out of the ordinary world. A vital first step.

But there is a problem…

Self-Improvement Is The New “Comfort Zone”

The issue is hard to spot, but the trail of destruction it leaves behind is not.

You have left the ordinary world and travelled through a portal into the secret society of wizards and leaders.

And in this secret society, you are told you can be anything. Nothing is impossible. Success is just a mindset.

With enough inner resources like discipline, focus, and enthusiasm we are told we can escape the rat race and design our lifestyle with ease.

We are told that all we have to do is “Follow our bliss and the universe will open doors where there were previously only walls.”

And yet…

Many people in this secret society still…

Hate their jobs…. Don’t do what they love for work… Haven’t finished their creative projects in years… Jump from one thing to the next…

And this alluring belief that all we need to do is cultivate inner resources is actually the very thing that holds us back.

More motivation is not what we need.

Self-improvement has become a trap that can waste our time and transform us into…

Dabblers. Productive procrastinators. Armchair experts.

It's Time to Come Alive

Our dreams are like mountain peaks in the distance.

No clear path from where we stand but we know there is a place we can reach that will lead to greater perspective and a more beautiful view.

People who stay stuck at the base of the mountain are destined for boredom and cynicism. Feeling like the world has passed them by, they lack the ability to seize the day and author their own story.

This base is the safe zone where ingrained patterns of thought and behavior are reinforced by your environment. No matter how many books are read or journal pages filled, there will be a sense that something is missing.

To come alive we must eventually answer to adventure.

There is a reason we call it a Calling:
it might start as a whisper, a ringing in your ears, a voice that grows louder and louder until one day you decide it is time to leave behind the familiar and expose yourself to the extraordinary.

But these soulful expeditions
are best made in great company.

Bonds that will aid you when danger strikes and guide you back when you fall off course.

More motivation isn’t the answer if you remain at the base of the mountain. In fact, the reason many lack motivation is BECAUSE they are staying put in their safe zone. They haven’t come alive.

Stressing on motivation and procrastination will not help.

What you need is an environmental disruption. Even just 20 years ago, to create this shift you’d need to change your geography. Move to a new place and start fresh to break out of the patterns.

That’s no longer the only possibility (and good thing because moving isn’t the most appetizing plan in the middle of a global pandemic).

Technology is more frequently being seen in negative terms, but like all tools, it’s about how you use them. It’s possible to create a digital intervention that acts as a transformational overlay on top of your current circumstances.

A love letter to HEx

I started my journey with HEx in April of 2019 and it has been an immensely transformative experience since day one. They are a team that wants you to succeed and will do damn near anything to see that success to fruition.

You just feel like a family – like in Lilo and Stitch, “Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind.” This statement could not be more true in my experience with HEx. They are not a group of stuffy, conceited individuals only looking for a pay check. They genuinely care about you and meet you where you are at, every step of the way.

Personally I’ve had many challenges come up from mundane issues to existential dread, and I’ve always felt supported completely. They cheer me on when I’m doing well and offer support when I’m feeling low. They’ve helped me see my blind spots when I’m unaware and offered perspective shifts that I would not have seen otherwise.

In the near two years that I’ve been apart of this family, I’ve experienced growth on an exponential scale – in 2019 I was a full-time waitress with no idea who I wanted to be or where I wanted to go.

Fast forward to now, I am a certified Reiki Master with a year long training in Authentic relating and nonviolent communication. I travel almost full time and am in the process of starting my own business.

So to put it lightly, I can say without a doubt in my mind that without this family I would not be where I am today.
