An Open Challenge to the Spiritual

backcase (@backcase) 8 years, 10 months ago

This quote which I am going to put has a spiritually meaning.

Let’s see who is really spiritual.

Jesus said, “That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.”

This quote is from the Gospel of Thomas. You will need to draw from the spirit if you are to understand it.

What do you think it means?

It means that you have everything you need within yourself. You do not need to worship any sort of god, deity or anything else that comes from outside of yourself.

Peace and love. If you have it within it will save you. If you do not it can be your downfall. I think there are a lot of interpretations with that one. I like it.

Its like yoda said, you only need what you bring with you. Carry hate with you and you will be met with hate.

the initial post should have had this quote from the Gospel of Thomas:

And he said, “Whoever finds the interpretation of these sayings will not experience death.”

@mikeyw829, I disagree I think it is a riddle that tickles our spiritual search.

@s7221919, The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us how our end will be.”
Jesus said, “Have you discovered, then, the beginning, that you look for the end? For where the beginning is, there will the end be. Blessed is he who will take his place in the beginning; he will know the end and will not experience death.”

I think this quote means God created us with everything we need. With love, compassion, peace… All the qualities we desire for ourselves. If these qualities fill our hearts, we will be saved. But if these qualities cannot be found in our hearts and are replaced with anger and hate, these feelings will eventually surround us and will lead to our downfall.

We are going to keep getting reborn until we figure it out and break the cycle of rebirth and become something more. What do you think happens when the universe ends? It begins again : )

@backcase, “That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.”

Hmm maybe say something like patience, it must be experienced from within, a person must realize they need patience. No matter how much they study, read, or talk about patience. It must be lived through the person and their life.

And maybe the second sentence is referring to that if someone would not have that patience “within” them. Then it will be the death of them if they are trying to seek the rewards of patience from an outside source rather than from manifesting the true quality within themselves….

But that can apply to any quality, maybe even having the spirit within them in general, but maybe it applies to Love, Kindness, Humility…Idk just a thought!

@backcase, “That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.” Simple self-realization: You bring it forth in realization and prosper in that. In not realizing it, is as if it is not there (though it is) and you are dead to all that opens in realization. Peace, Love & Light ~ ricky

Is it not also in the Gospel of Thomas which tells the tale of Jesus killing one of his school friends and blinding another for no aparent reason? And bringing dead birds back to life, which is a contradiction to gods will?

Naughty Naughty Jesus.

@piptherational, no, it doesn’t say anything like that. I think it may have been the “Law of One”, which is a work of confusion and deceit.

Besides, Mary home-schooled Jesus with Him and His two cousins who become apostles.

@backcase,

“That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.”

everything you need is found within you. to draw power from something that is not within you will fail you in the end.

@backcase,

The Answer is Love. Love dwells within each of us and it is up to us to bring it out, and give it to the world.

Like a fire, if we close ourselves, it will die out as it will not be free, or have air to breathe.

We can put love into each action, each intention, and each thought and by our good will in doing so, we will be saved.

We need to bring out our childish love within us, to live as children of the Kingdom of God.

If we act out of our good will we will be saved by selflessness. “Lose yourself to save yourself”

If all time is infinite, one flow going in the direction of future, and the other towards past, then these two flows will need to meet somewhere in space, they would need to contradict each others flow at some point, a point of unison and harmony, where beginning meets end, where they both are together, this place is the fundamental moment, which is the present of eternity, to find the eternal present, and thus the eternal moment, is to no longer experience death as an end.
