A Matter Of Fact

I consider myself to be an open minded person, I also consider myself to be educated, it is therefor I assume I am getting more and more annoyed by the blatant lies that are being thrown at me from every direction, whether it is by politicians, or through advertisements by companies, and even the charities and other “help” organizations find it necessary to knowingly misinform me. I have recently changed some of the charities I financially support since I can not ethically and morally support an organization which does not practice what it preaches. This sometimes hypocritical nature of these organizations is one of the things I believe which can be addressed by global communities such as the platform we are on here. It is therefor I would like to propose an experiment. How can a guided collective global effort enhance the world we live in – by taking small steps – Example: I and – I believe many of you have experienced similar feelings – was watching TV yesterday, at some point there was a commercial asking for the support of an organization fighting the whale hunt. I want to state I am all against hunting whales, but in this commercial the organization stated that certain countries where acting in violation with certain laws, which however unfortunate for the whales is a lie told by this organization. I believe it is wrong to misinform, no matter how good the initial intention is. In this case it is a political battle, which I believe needs to be addressed by us, the people – By bringing it to the attention of those representing us, and by showing those representing us with facts and reason. The possibilities of the new communication technologies provide us with the tools to act. I do also believe that by giving honest information (hopefully a trend as access to information grows) more can be achieved as compassion is what makes us human.

For this experiment I would ask all of you here to join and support, My intention is to write a petition of some sort which all of you could sign, and sent to your friends etc…. ;) The results can be handed to the chosen organization(s). I do realize it is not an original idea, but I believe I need to start somewhere, and why not today?(well or tomorrow as I am taking my daughter out today :))

So I will get back to you soon with a more detailed version of the idea, in the mean time feel free to give it some thought, and if you think…. well anything … share please ;)

i completely agree with you on the misinformation that we are all being fed all the time. We are always told the convinient information, never the whole truth.

I am all for the petitions depending on what it is of course.Case by case, you know.

Thats what I have in mind, case by case, I believe it is possible to deal with issues by combining ideas and solutions from all over.

The first issue is something I believe is relevant in many countries.

This is a good idea, howeverrrr which ones to support and which ones not to? And why?

Syn.Ther. (46) (@luna) 10 years, 9 months ago ago

It need a large enough backing of insightful people to come up with suggestions and create backing through discussion and the social media networks.

The subjects can be taken from debates on HE or brought up by supporters. It is merely a platform to generate momentum. or at least that would be the initial intention.

And to address the matter at hand, there is a law coming supposedly after the summer recess which will regulate open refrigeration and by 2018 there should be none left in the Netherlands. This is however not final.
