Here is my situation. I want to lose weight and gain muscle. Now my question is do the two go hand in hand? can I lose maybe 10kg while also gain muscle?
Or do I have to choose from one or the other? I think it would be good to lose weight, but also keep the muscle there but just don’t gain that much, this way I can look thin but still have a lot of visible muscle.
My BMR is 2013.24 so If I wanted to lose weight I would go to maybe 1600 calories per day, but I could also keep that the same, but workout more or do more vigorous exercise so I don’t gain any unneeded weight.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated :)
Work on gaining muscle and then losing fat. I’m assuming you want to lose unsightly body fat and not necessarily weight. Building muscle will increase your BMR. Assuming you don’t change your eating habits, most people will lose body fat as a result of the new muscles and, consequently, the body’s increased energy demands.
