All of you are fucking stupid (jk)

Zykanthos (@chodebalm)7 years, 6 months ago

Now that I’ve gotten your attention because you took that statement personally (no, not all of you are stupid), I can move on to my point: WE’RE A SELFISH COUNTRY.

3 people die in the Boston bombings and the nation is in an uproar, the media is in a frenzy, and all of you people have your noses in your phones and TVs watching CNN for the latest entertainment info about the whereabouts of bombing suspect #2.

Yet no one gives a flying fuck about the thousands of innocent lives lost in air strikes and bombings in the Middle East because….OH THEY’RE ALL TERRORISTS OVER THERE!

Give me a fucking break. Your own government are terrorists. Terrorism comes in many different forms. Our government’s terrorism just happens to be in the form of bullying and invading “for the sake of freedom and homeland security”, not to mention their complete disregard for your personal privacy and the rights of the rest of the American people.

Apparently only American lives matter. Apparently human life elsewhere isn’t important enough to report about. Apparently war is okay, as long as it’s not here in the good ol’ U.S. of A.!

War is profitable. That’s why you’ll never hear the media condemning airstrikes, raids, and mass killings of people in other countries, because we’re just “protecting our freedoms!”

Now, many of you are going to think this is an anti-American rant. Go ahead and think that. That’s just another example of how your nationalistic mindset is fucked up and pathetic. You think in terms of nationalism, I think in terms of HUMANITY.

I put EARTH LIFE first. Earth came first, before America, before any country.

I am not saying the 3 lives lost in Boston are not a tragedy. They are. Whenever human lives are taken, it’s a tragedy. It’s fucked up. It’s evil. It’s unnecessary. So don’t get it twisted – I am not downplaying the importance of the lives lost in Boston.

However, we have a media bias which keeps people concerned with only their own security, keeps people in fear, and keeps people in a state of mind which apparently accepts war as just a normal part of life, as long as it’s not here.

Why the fuck is it okay for us to tolerate war and murder and death in other parts of the world, but not here? Are we not supposed to give a shit about other human beings?

War is profitable, and as long as it’s profitable, it’ll exist.

You can make a difference RIGHT NOW by not supporting the mainstream media anymore. Turn off your TVs. Get rid of cable. Turn to alternative news sources on the internet. Do your own research. Learn. Get out of your own bubble, your own comfort zone. Stop accepting war as an inevitable thing. Stop caring about only yourself and start having compassion and concern for every human being on the planet.

I love all of you. Peace.

Aye, nothing else to add except that I agree. Reminds me of Joe Rogan’s rant on the “American war machine”. Couldn’t have agreed with that dude more.

@chodebalm, Do you blame the manipulation of the media or the tendency of people to not care about things that go on outside of their social awareness?

@chodebalm, I totally agree with everything you just wrote, Ive been meaning to post same thing on facebook but never had the time, (iam a mom) I agree so much that I am quoting this Jordanian leader, he said about the Boston Bombings “American blood is not as important as Muslim blood” people on the website when nuts calling the guy a pig and all sorts of horrible things, but what they don’t acknowledge is that American is saying the same in silent speech with lots of horrid actions. Wars, taking over peoples countries and making chaos in Pakistan and getting involved with their problems with Israel, defending whom ever wants to comply with Democracy that is silently saying “American, Democratic blood matter more than any other human being living outside of America” Kudos for bringing this topic. May I steal it and post it on FB? :)))

@chodebalm,

I feel ya man. Your airing out how you feel about the situation.

I think the main reason people care about the boston bombing is because it threatens national security. The second bomber needed to be found so we could make sure he wouldn’t try a second bombing and kill more people. I’ve seen CNN report about other killings around ther world too. Boston was just the most recent one I guess. When ever life ends its always a little sad, no matter where it is. People die or get killed everyday. You cant expect a news aggregator to cover every single one.

I think the mainstream media is very selective about the information it chooses to air out to the public. It always going to be on their own terms. They own it after all.

This world, this country, our government isn’t perfect, thats the truth.

Yes man I was thinking the same thing. Finally other people get it too and right on. I was watching the Woody Harrelson Ethos, which you’ve might have seen – it’s on HE – and he talks about it too. The media is controlled and controls us. Also, I think it’s strange how people get so riled up about terrorism when it’s in the form of a bomb. People commit murder all the time and sometimes kill more than three people, sometimes many, but people just think oh they’re just murderers or in a gang or something, it’s a private affair; but when someone sets off a bomb in a crowded area, even though only three die, it’s a national thing. Hysteria, fear, anger, hatred, they’re all generated. Fox news immediately states they’re muslim extremists, because, you know, that’s “obvious.” People are flipping out now that just because they’re from a Russian region, even though they moved to America when he was 8, they are part of some extremist group there, with NO solid evidence. It would make NO sense that they would bomb the Boston marathon. Let’s not be ignorant here! I think they’re just a couple of whack jobs. So let’s not believe everything we hear, let’s not start blaming and generalizing some group. Prayers for the victims and prayers for the moronic, ignorant, gullible, naive, stupid American population. May we all find truth and peace amongst all the craziness.

@optimystic,
I’m from New Zealand.
you guys were the front page, and a full 3 page A3 spread in our two national newspapers for 4 days running. We had countless personal accounts, and countless musings on the issue.
Same sex marriage was legalized in NZ in this time, and all it got was a couple articles on page 4 (which actually isn’t too horrifying, as it was pretty much a given and had a lot of publicity leading up to the vote) but irregardless.
you guys write letters to the editors, right? When I get home I’ll post a photo of what one guy sent in, echoing the opinions of many NZers, and clearly, many of you all here.

adam (71) (@adamd) 7 years, 6 months ago ago

@chodebalm, I like the topic and I appreciate the perspective. The only thing I’m thinking though, is that basically, what has happened is that people have drawn a seemingly arbitrary line where they care if something gets fucked up within the line and they don’t if it’s outside the line. Now, haven’t you just done the same thing? “Whenever human lives are taken, it’s a tragedy.” Strange how you particularly used the word human in that statement. I may be assuming you are saying something that you are not but I feel I have made a reasonable assumption. Is it truly different to replace that word with American? Or even your own family/tribe name? I feel that, as humans, we naturally care for our own group more than anyone/thing outside of that group. You have just decided that your group is slightly larger than others yet still smaller than different others. All it is is a seemingly arbitrary line that each and every being gets to draw for itself. Thanks for posting this :)

1 – preachin to the choir!
2 – read an interesting facebook status the other day from a friend who teaches in Egypt it went something like this:

” We were talking about Boston bombings and some of the teachers said ‘We’re sorry that happened, but this happens to us every day. I just don’t think its that important.’ ”

The extremity that the police and authority are trying to capture this man is exactly the blind “rage” (more like display of muscle) that our country is really prone to doing. 9/11, first. Then this…

Its like the government views it as a chance to build the country’s moral. Which definitely happened with 9/11 – everyone became here an ‘american’ on that day. And how dare you question it!

Same shit here.

Politicians are fucked in the head. Seriously fucked.

Zykanthos (4,757)M (@chodebalm) 7 years, 6 months ago ago

@ijesuschrist, Exactly. Couldn’t agree more. And as all of this was unfolding, I can remember being at work and seeing CNN on TV and I couldn’t help but get the feeling like I was watching entertainment television.

Then last night when they caught the guy, they showed scenes of crowds of people cheering in the streets, partying and having a merry old time.

Sheep. Fucking sheep.

I get that people are happy they caught the guy supposedly responsible for this, but seriously, get a life. Get a clue. It’s things like what your friend in Egypt said that really make me wish people would open their eyes and understand what really goes on outside of their own little world.

Politicians are fucked, the media is fucked, and people who blindly follow are fucked. I’m just so sick of it. And then like you said, they have the advantage of saying, “Well if you’re not happy then you’re not American! Grrrr!!!”

Pfft…please. You’ve all just been played. I’m not so emotionally and mentally weak that I let the media make me think I’m supposed to be happy about the outcome of all this shit. I don’t need to see justice in the affairs of another in order to be happy.

Good post bro.

@chodebalm, I was just watching the news in my hotel today and since I don’t have TV it seemed so hilarious.
First story: “child shot on porch”
Second story: “2 dead”
Third story: “Police car hits drunk pedestrian”
Fourth: “Now Jim with the weather.”

The local news has become an obituary of murders.
The national news is criminal entertainment.

I was at my moms house last night and she was watching CNN. There was a commercial, I repeat, a COMMERCIAL about the drama surrounding the bombing suspects. It makes me fucking sick!!! Its like high school clicks on a world level.

I feel good about the fact that I no longer buy into any level of what the media tells me. For one, why do you even need to go on and on about it? Just report the goddamn facts: “There was a bombing in Boston.” thats all we need to know, and whatever reason caused it, its a stupid one obviously. To even ask the question “What went wrong with this person?” is stupid. We’ve seen people go wrong on almost every level possible only within the past few hundred years. How is any negative act any different? Yes, every situation is unique, but the principle is the same: ignorant people fear things and react as they see fit.

Yes! Me and my buddy have been talking about this exact topic since it happened. Why is the media pushing this so hard? I knew the people on this site wouldn’t buy into all their shit.

It seems like people are so easily distracted.

Only 3 people died in the bombing, when 2.5 million die every year in America alone. There are more serious issues going on everywhere all the time that we need to focus on. If only the people of this site had control over the media, or rather the media just didn’t exist. I don’t think it’s ever been useful to me

No one here disagrees with you, man. Stop complaining about it on a site where everyone already knows and cares. Shit, this post was annoying.
Get off this website and go change something. Goddamn. You could’ve been doing something productive in all the time it took you to write that godawful essay on something that EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT.
So, my main point is, stop complaining, and go ACT!!!!

It’s a tragedy when a human life ends? Well, what about animal lives? Forest lives? And what about over-population?

And yknow, you can bet your ass those people who got bombed in Boston were just the kind of person you’re talking about. Supporting war, regurgitating patriotic bullshit, polluting the world, disregarding everything that is not their own comfort.

Was it really such a loss?

Also, if you think ignoring the warlords and media mongers will change anything you’re masively mistaken. Gotta rise up, rally for actual change by replacing those motherfuckers, or just disposing of them.

Other than that, great post and topic. Thanks man.

Over 100 people died in an earthquake recently in China and thousands have lost their homes, but this has hardly been mentioned in the general Western media as far as I’m aware. The media seems to consider American lives more important than foreign people’s lives. I think I’m right in saying that on the day of the Boston marathon bombings, around 50 people died in terrorist bombings in Iraq but this obviously doesn’t get mentioned at all.
