Anonymous!! friend or foe??

the805nomad (@the805nomad) 8 years, 10 months ago

so i just read that the hacktivist group known as “Anonymous” struck the homepage to the federal judicial agency and shut it down.. and as far as im concerned .. lol awesome!! BRAVO gentlemen and women… i honestly feel that they are true patriots and freedom fighters to this unjust and corrupt system that seems to grow ever more cancerous every day we sit by and let them tear us down and apart.. Anonymous has shown each and every one of you what it truly means to be an american using his or her constitutional rights to demand answers and responses to those political cretins who distort and mutilate our law.. they have targeted child molesters online, they have targeted the church of scientology, who im sure we can all agree are devoid of reason and intelligence.. those lunatics need to be erased, the group has also targeted a drug lord for kidnapping one of their own.. they seem to operate on the general principles that freedom of information and justice is essential to us all, that we have a right to know what is “true” and what is right.. we already can feel there is something wrong with our system that “governs” us.. so i ask you, people who the Anonymous protect and fight foe.. are they cyber terrorists? or are they patriots trying to weed out and identify the corrupt and serve them justice..??

@the805nomad, Anonymous is powerful.I checked it out yesterday and you could even go past the hacked page to the real page and edit the original page. I pressed backspace a couple of times and deleted a piece and it got replaced immediately.. Apparently they are ready to shut down a number of websites. Its really crazy what the power of the internet has become. These guys can hurt countries governments in a real way and are about the change that most of the people here talk about. They just have a different route of getting there.

I’d be perfectly fine with Anonymous controlling the internet. Much preferable to how the government or corporations would control it. The enemy of my enemy… : )

@the805nomad, I’m all for keeping people honest but who watches the watchers? Fundamentally they may appear as having principle, a just cause, moral fortitude and all that but there is no safety net, if they want or need to go off the reservation and abuse their power they can and will. They can get people of influence who have done nothing wrong, not legally anyway, and blackmail them, threaten to destroy their lives, like an affair or closet gay for example, they haven’t broken any laws but they can be manipulated with their personal taboos.
I’m sure the government can also do these things, that is how they keep the order they do in some cases, but a man can’t serve two masters and either way, whatever side is chosen, these people are stuck between a rock and a hard place and will end up trashed no matter what.
I suppose that would be the price of justice, I suppose despite the danger of trading dictator for dictator, it is something I would not oppose, I just feel for the poor bastards who get crushed in this shit fight.

@trek79, Yeah, They could have good or bad intentions in overthrowing the government and are using us to be on their side. They are anonymous..

Well I feel pretty daunted with the responsibility of being a moderator on this site, I couldn’t imagine the kind of objectivity a person would need to have free reign like all these Hacktivists. They could be anyone, 9 year olds or grannies of any walk of life, I suppose they would generally keep each other in line, but they would be set up like cyber cells, independant of each other and autonomous.
But if one gets out of line, others may give them a wake up call, you just don’t want a super-rogue breaking away. But really, you do not know the mental states of them, if they are immature or nuts, if or rather what biases they each have. If all the hackers in the world were HEthens then I wouldn’t be so worried, but these people risk a power trip and massive detachment from reality with their isolation.
I’d recommend they have a read of this site now and then, to keep their psychological balance in check and relate to people who are more on their level of awareness and values, even intellect.

i think the agenda they push as you watch them , isnt out of malice towards the mass populace.. quite the opposite, they are fighting for more freedom of information.. who they target are to me personally, are reasonable and well thought out.. child pornographers..scientologists, the corrupt and unjust, they attack a militant and oppressive system that has long since turned its back on us and lies to us on a day to day basis..
@trek79, to answer your question.. you know the way they handle their operations, i wouldnt mind them regulating the web.. isnt it the publics free space to converse and share ideas and information together freely.. why should it not be monitored and if need be, “policed” for the mass populaces protection.. the child pornographer.. hell good riddens.. could you imagine if this group actually provided the people with the evidence or freedom to challenge the system and turn it back over into the hands of the people..

if they start shutting down sites based on the good or well being of the majority, i say go for it.. if they start leaking dirty dark secrets about key politicians or events within our history where those still around can be held accountable for.. do it!! i think our system needs the revision, because quite frankly the banks run our politics, and theres nothing that we the people can do, except for unite and demand answers to tricky, avoided and out right lied about questions.. and we should be tired of it by now..”Occupy” movement was a good example of a serious threat to their security regarding pushing the right buttons.. the agenda and the multiple organizations uniting to all ask for answers was what we need.. and i dont mean that violently, i mean breaching their comfort levels.. the voice of the people and in numbers scares and shakes their foundation.. when just a few thousand gather they tremble, think if we stood together in the tens of thousands.. they would have to notice and they would have to address it..

They’ve certainly won the hearts and minds of many young americans…

but remember that, throughout history, power corrupts.

The next few decades should be pretty damned interesting.

As long you state you’re identity and the object of anonymous in one sentence with a proudness of a country you fail to see the objective…..

Anonymous to me has a whole other meaning.

As a 4chan /b/tard from back in the day I remember when Anon used to be about raiding Habbo Hotel, and we were all Anonymous. It grew into the scientology pickets and about that time I stopped following it.

It’s amazing now to see Anonymous as a completely different entity with some form of purpose. It’s outgrown itself for the better and seems to be only a few elite individuals with a massive backing.

Well if I could make a suggestion to Hacktivists, I’d say that politicians are not our problem, they should be looking into the puppet masters, the irresponsible corporate and industrial elite who have power so great as to wash clean all their sins. There are rich and powerful people who are genuine humanitarians and seek to improve the world, but there are those that simply want absolute power and crush anything that stands in their way.
To me it would make sense that Anonymous would go after them and if they don’t, it could only suggest that the richest and most powerful people in the world would be able, if anyone was, to do exactly what Anonymous does simply by their ability to afford state of the art technology.

@winslow, Yeah, but it doesn’t really matter if they close down a government website. The government won’t care.

Try hacking into some companies or something like that which feeds a government. Fuck shit up! Then you’ll get their attention.

Anonymous needs to stop acting like these pranks matter and do some hardcore shit that actually could matter. But then again I don’t think anonymous is the group to do it. It’s mostly just fanboys who jumps on the waggon.

If you ask me, we need some manly hacktivists to grab the government by their balls.

These guys are complete badasses.

This.
They kind of worry me.

@kayla147258, That’s highly probable – but then again I doubt it.

@trek79, They do seem to be proceeding with care though so I’m all for it for now, as for the government doing the same thing – I doubt it. Hacking is like a lost language that Anon has developed beyond what any given computer technician wiz can probably understand

Anonymous=The people

Its like asking if people are inherently good or bad.

What if anonoymous is just the government hacking itself to one day create a very sensored and regulated internet??

Another conspiracy theory for you.

They are nothing but abunch of social outcasts started on 4chan. Anyone with a decent knowledge can hack a government website, they are not that well protected anyways.

They are a joke and dont do anything useful.

With great power comes great responsibility…and the greater the power, the more likely it is to become corrupt.

I’m not going to trust Anon anymore than I trust the government. They’re doing good…but I have a feeling it can only last so long.

I like this: Anonymous hacks Fox News

I don’t like this: Fox News Anonymous Propaganda

It would be nice if they aimed at damaging the media.
