Artificial Intelligence

I just finished watching ex machina. Awesome movie. They talked shortly about the possibility of robots outdoing humans in the future. This got me thinking. Could it be possible that we would be able to create such an advanced form of consciousness that they would outdo humans? Would humans become obsolete? Let’s hypothesize.

My theory is that first we would begin creating robots based on monkeys, as they are a lower form of consciousness but most similar to the human mind, hence would be easier to recreate. Of course, we would have to know every bit of how a monkey brain works would we even be able to begin this process. But let’s say we can. We are able to produce a monkey robot, who acts in every way similar to a real monkey. This would be a gigantic achievement, obviously, but the next step would be creating a human AI.

This is where it gets exciting. When we are able to create such a thing, this robot, which remember, has a consciousness comparable with humans, will have the same brain power, sences, feelings etc.as a normal human being, but they would be far more energy efficient. They wouldn’t need to eat, drink, sleep or take a shit. At most they would need an occasional power up and some repairs. So they are able to learn and process more information, evolve faster than humans ever could and eventually surpass humans on the evolutional scale.

Now when this happens, what do you think would happen? Would they take over the world and take control of all life forms, as humans have done in the past? Or would they be peaceful, as they have a higher consciousness and hereby possess higher knowledge of what’s good and bad.

Any thoughts?
