BETTER TOPIC TITLES!

Anonymous (@) 8 years, 10 months ago

Guys we gotta start making more accurate, leading titles for the discussion threads. Sometimes I click on some and they’re not what I expected, and other times I complete miss something I’m looking for or would have been interested in, had it had a more descriptive title. I know, it’s not that easy to summarize a topic well but we are smart individuals. Push yourself to be a better everything.

@conorq, good point, I have a feeling the people who are making lazy titles are not going to click on this title

It’s in the FAQ actually.
2) Type a concise, but informative title for your post (avoid spelling and grammar mistakes in the title to insure it can be easily searched for later)

That’s not even… bettering yourself, it’s how not to look stupid 101. :D

Using the meta tags would also improve the search results. But I don’t think many people know what they are or used for.

A lesson on using ‘topic tags’: topic tags are called meta tags, a search engine use these to pinpoint specific information within a post (the meta data) , each word in the tags box should be specific to the post, and be separated by a comma.

Tags for this topic could be: ‘topic, title, names, naming, posts, discussions, improvement, read’

This wasn’t what I was expecting to read. Your title misled me. But I read it.

@possiblehubris, sort of. I thought this topic was going to be about something else, in an effort to prove or disprove the point he/she was making..
