I recently read a book by Alan Watts: The book on the taboo against knowing who you are. I really liked and recommend it. I was hoping you guys could recommend some other books for me. Put a list of the 3 top books of philosophy, meditation, religion. And lets make everyone read these books and open their minds.

1) The book on the taboo against knowing who you are (Alan Watts)

2) Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind (ShunryĆ« Suzuki)

3) Science and Man’s behaviour (Trigant Burrow)

I hope you find time to read these books, its been amazing to me. And comment your top 3 books!!

1. The Wisdom of Yoga – Stephen Cope

Fucking awesome intro book to Yoga philosophy.  Covers so much ground, and is told in the form of personal stories with the philosophy and spirituality to go along with it.  Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn about the meditation/philosophical side of yoga.

2. Confessions of a Wayward Monk – Jack Haubner

Hilarious book about this guy’s real-life stumbles and struggles to find peace and contentment as a Buddhist monk.  Very raunchy, very real, very human.  And super funny.  This guy struggled with party, drug, and sex addiction, and doesn’t sugarcoat his experience with new age baloney.  Great book for seeing the Buddhist path through the eyes of someone who came to it with a lot of emotional baggage.

3. A Way of Being – Carl Rogers

Not about spirituality at all, but it’s
probably influenced my spirituality more than any other book.  It’s a
collection of personal & philosophical essays written by Carl Rogers,
famous psychologist, throughout his life.  I guess a couple of the essays
are sort of spiritual, but it’s not a book about spirituality.  This book is like my bible – the essays are
mainly about how to live well in relationship to others, and I aspire to live
as they say.

Hope you check one of these books out, they’re all awesome :)
