Our area is thinking about putting in a casino…I’m of mixed feelings about them but wont voice my opinion yet. What’s yours? What are the pros and cons of gambling and casinos in your opinion?
Casinos are like almost anything in life, it requires a balance. I gamble pretty frequently, maybe a little bit too much, but I’m 20 years old, work a full time job, and can afford to lose the money I gamble with. That being said, I think that overall casinos aren’t bad by nature. As with all things, it’s the people, not the thing which is to be blamed for any misfortune. Casinos also bring a lot of jobs to the area, so I tend to view them as generally being good in that respect. As far as pros and cons of gambling go, that is really a loaded question because there are no pros. Gamble at casinos and you will lose. Thats just the nature of the beast. You can’t blame casinos for ruining people’s lives because the person chose to gamble. Yes, casinos are pretty shady in some of their actions, and do everything in their power to get and keep you their, but ultimately it is still your decisions to go and stay. Overall, I think casinos provide a lot of jobs and entertainment for many people, and personally I am all for them.
I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and they literally just opened up a casino last week, I suppose it’s good because its bring a lot of jobs and tourists to Cleveland but I can’t help but think of all the people who are going to lose everything and become addicted to gambling. I vowed to not step foot in the place because I don’t gamble. I have found other exciting ways to spend my money frugally. I am happy that there is one more thing for people to enjoy in my city but I just see it as a way for people to feed an addiction that is going to corrupt and tear apart our city. In my opinion any sort of gambling is a waste of money and not good at all.
