I’ve often wondered what it would be like for people on this site to engage in actual verbal discussions.. People in this community are intelligent and like-minded and I feel like being able to do so would spark many interesting chats. Obviously this will never replace the actual site, but I think that for anyone who has a mic it would be a cool extra to have..
Anyway, I’ve rented a teamspeak server to test this theory out and see how it goes.. Right now there’s only 10 slots but I think that should be enough for now. If it’s a success then maybe we could all chip in a little bit to cover the cost of renting more slots.
Here are the server details anyway.. I’m online atm so if you have a mic then install teamspeak 3 and enter this ip:
There is no password. You don’t have to use your HEthen username as your nickname, and in fact my name on the server is Neo
Hope to see some of you guys in there.. I’ll only be on my computer for another hour or so but I’ve paid for a month’s rent. Please bump this post as well so that other people can see it :)
I’ve just updated it so the server is now called Unofficial HighExistence Discussion and added a few channels..
Nobody has joined so far.. I’m gonna be offline now but feel free to use this if you happen across it. I’ll bump this topic because I really want people to see this. I honestly think it would be amazing if we could all debate with each other and if it catches on then maybe the creators of this site would make something official :)
@stormy-colt Wow ,that’s really interesting and I am going to join ,but there may be a problem because we have people form all around the world and the timing may be inconvinient. So if this is going to happen it needs organization and consensus,
@cosmicd46, The advantage is that way more people can be connected at a time..Not right now, because there’s only 10 slots, but there could be 100. Within a server, you can make different channels so there could be different areas for different discussions..
@corrosive-morality, That’s a good point, but I think if this gained popularity there would always be someone online somewhere in the world because there are tens of thousands of users active on this site.
@martijn, Hopefully we’ll see you on there too :)
@i4cim2b, Yeah you don’t really need a mic, it’s better if you want to chat though because having to read the chat box is a bit less convenient than listening to somebody’s voice, but still, it’s not indispensable, and you can come even if you just want to listen too :)
Anyway it was nice talking with all of you guys yesterday, and I really like to idea of having a HEthen TeamSpeak server, a virtual meeting room where to drop in whenever you feel like talking with like-minded people, it would be amazing if it grows to have more people using it, different channels for different subjects, categories just like on the HE forum…
Having something like that on HE would be great, but even without it we can have great talk on google hangout! Would be great if the official HE G+ page conducts it , even more people will join that. Could be held two three times a day maybe? So the people from different timezones could talk.
