Consciousness in Animals

I have been wondering about this for a long time now I just did not know how to put it in a context for others to read. I look into my dogs eyes and I think how alike we are. Dogs have the ability to make their own decisions, dogs are not robots they are a living, breathing and thinking creature. They have the ability to think, communicate, and move through time and space just like humans. I also observe my dog when it is sleeping and she dreams just like we dream. As chaotic as the world and the universe is can we understand more if we understood animals better. Studies have been done on the human dream and a lot has been discovered about them but has anybody every studied the dreams of animals, they see a lot of the things we see day in and day out but what if their dreams could tell us so much more about life. What if the answers to life and the universe lie inside animals and we have no way of communicating with them. I know it sounds like some weird theory but can any Hethen out there elaborate on the consciousness of animals, and how their mind works.

I would reckon that animals have the type of consciousness and experience of reality that humans have before learning language. I suppose this would entail “thinking” in images and feelings rather than words.

who knows….
