Create Your Power

So the Limitless vs. Jumper debate (the post about having limitless brain power or teleportation powers) has got me thinking. If you could have ANY power, anything at all (and I don’t mean just something you take from X-Men or Justice League, but I mean it can be your creation), what would it be?

Keep in mind, it’s got to be interesting. It can’t just be, “I will know everything, ever!! MWUAHAHA!”

Personally, I’d like to be able to manipulate gravity. Essentially, being able to create black holes and such. Maybe even manipulate space time and bend it enough to create wormholes for time-traveling purposes. Would be awesome.

I would like the ability to make anything “grow” anywhere I want it to even when I am not around. Then I would stop world hunger =]

Between these two powers, which would you take?

I think I’d pick the “Wolverine” power I described. But it’s close between the two….

My ability would be to bring lasting happiness, contentment, and joy to any person between myself and the curve of the earth that is the horizon. Wars would end, community would grow, and nobody would go hungry because everyone would happily share what they have.

@sirensetmefree, I would say flawless mitosis at an increased rate (increased life span). Also an increased amount of neurons and glials cells, with the increased mitosis function applied as well. Having the resources of Stark Industries would be pretty awesome too.

I’d like to live forever.

Yup, I know there are a lot of potentials downfalls to it.

But, I when I sat in history class in high school I had always thought, “Wow. I wish I was there.” And I realize that I’m living in a moment in which some kids a hundred years from now will think the same thing, and so on. Being immortal would allow me to experience so much.

I could get over dead relationship and I could handle the loneliness. But, I would love the time to travel and see what I want. I wouldn’t want to time travel, but I would love to have the time to travel.

@aliwine, Very nice!

@xyver, I don’t really like either >.>

@misssunbeam, Great power, practical, selfless, and kind of excessively altruistic! lol

@imhotep, Hmm… But why the increased rate? Wouldn’t that cause some sort of tumor somewhere? lol No offense.

@sirensetmefree, It’s really extremely selfish, my vision of Eutopia :)

@misssunbeam,

I don’t think it strays far from anyone’s vision of utopia. Although, i consider it selfless in that it’s about as selfless as you can get. Every action, even the most selfless thing you can think of, is a selfish one, if you define it in certain ways. lol

@sirensetmefree, the increased rate would theoretically cause an increased healing ability. Tumors wouldn’t occur if the mitosis was flawless, because tumors emerge as a result of mutation. In a manner of speaking all of the cells would be similar to cancer cells.

@imhotep,

Well, what I meant was a sort of excess build up of cells that are being sped up through the increased rate of mitosis but aren’t necessarily replacing injured cells (for example, skin cells). Unless, of course, you’re speeding up the rate of death of your cells. You’re right about the tumor thing, but I just meant excess build up. Interesting way of putting it though… hmmm… I might just take that power of yours d=

@sirensetmefree, all cell rates would be increased relatively. I guess the disposel systems of the body would somehow have to be sped up. You would probably have more dander. LOL.

@kidd, from your choice I have a feeling you’d like this movie. Have you ever watched “The Man from Earth”? If not, I highly suggest you check it out.

@kidd, The biggest downfall would be that when the rest of the earth’s peoples die in a nuclear holocaust, or when the sun dies, you’d be there all alone.

@alexishungry, One of the best movies i’ve ever seen. Hollywood and movie makers forget that you dont really need anything, other than good acting and a great story. His story through time was amazing, and I loved how all his friends asked him all the hardest questions.

@yoinkie, I know! It was an amazing movie without any effects, special setting, or anything other than talking. It’s definitely one of my top 5 favorites.

@epath, Too true. Though, I think the boredom would get to me before the loneliness, lol.

@alexishungry, I have not seen it. I’ll add it to my list of things to watch, though! I’ll see if it’ll be on TV any time soon and hopefully DVR it. Google says it looks interesting… lol
