Creating a personal mission statement!!!

So I was lying in bed last night and could not sleep for hours and hours, thoughts passing through my head like crazy. Let’s just say I have been struggling the past few weeks trying to narrow down what I am passionate about and what I might like to spend my time doing for my remaining years on the Earth (Am about to finish uni and hardly have an idea of what to do afterwards). Anyway somehow by cycling through adjectives and verbs that I felt would describe me as a person I came up with something along the lines of what a business calls their ‘Mission Statement’ – their purpose as an organization. What I came up with is seriously wordy and kind of abstract but for me it works:

‘I possess the potential, the ability, and it is what I now deem to be my responsibility and my purpose in this lifetime, to help guide persons down a path in which they can find clarity and a will beyond a degree they never once knew existed. Let this be my promise and thanks for the blessed life I have been given; may I share it with others. In the end we are all one, and one should not be left in the dark.’

Now this is not a static unchanging thing: a mission statement is to be reviewed and revised constantly so that it adjusts as the business grows and takes on new endeavors.  The same relates to what our personal mission statement might be. As we grow as humans and experience new things in life, our outlook and emotions are going to change. The direction we want to head in will change as well. What I plan to do is keep a record of each statement both before and after I make changes to it. Then at any point whether it be in a few weeks or twenty years down the road, I can look back and see how my statement/intent in life has changed over time. For me this will help give me something to work towards; waking up every day and reading my mission statement to think “hey you know what, today is going to be a good day”… The composition of your statement can be philosophical or practical, super detailed or clear + concise, any way you decide –> create it in a way that works for you!! Anyway I hope some of you try this out and see what you can come up with! Share it with others or keep it to yourself, up to you. (although sharing this sort of stuff can help motivate others to do the same :) ) I think there is an awful lot of value in doing something like this, hopefully you’s can find the same!

I appreciate everyone’s time, Have a great day :D
