I have begun to notice that I find myself consuming more than I create. I crave the release of creativity, but it always feels lacking when presented with the media and information already available. This creates a cycle where an urge to make something is suppressed in favor of consumption. Inevitably a natural product of this self suppression becomes uncultivated and amateur skills, or an absence of skill. Basically, I am wondering how does one foster creativity and expression as a a part of their routine and escape the cycle of consumption?
i believe this question can be answered in many way. i would suggest to make a ritual of it threw out the day to be creative. make certain parts of the day or situations in everyday life a mandatory impulse to create something out of the mundane or otherwise inspirational. these being said i think in order for this to be thrown into momentum is to cut off from distracting material that would detour you from being creatively motivated. so get what you will from television and the internet but in the end we all need to walk outside and explore the real world.
@yaelalonso, I feel creativity arises naturally when the skill development doesn’t even feel like a chore, but love. Don’t pressure yourself to learn anything specific… but I would pressure yourself to phase out the habit of distracting yourself from your impulse. Sit into it and it will become clearer what holds you back and what you genuinely feel like putting yourself into.
I once had a problem writing creatively & not feeling like I had good lyrics, until I wrote about it & other things that were stopping me. Just flow with life, the up & the downs.
I write better now, but I’m still working on it. It’s not over night magic, but through what you do little by little consistently people will see the improvement probably before you even do. Good fortunes on your endeavors & rembemer anything you do in life give it love, because inspiration means breath of life.
I can say that if you consume. Analyze what you consume and find out better ways to do it! You can’t stop at just a video game! Create one! You can’t stop at Peanutbutter n Jelly, how bout Peanutbutter Nutella Jelly (the true PBNJ)
Creativity comes from experience of consuming @yaelalonso,
