Recently me and a friend got into a discussion about the hows and whats of the way we see the world. Through his eyes, he is completely for science and everything is determined in science and math. Which is true, those are the fundamentals of the world around us very much so. But when it came to spirituality in any sense he was completely turned off by it. I mentioned a universal love, and the interconnection of the human race at the most fundamental level and he disagreed. To him there is no such thing as love. It’s all in the brain, it has to do with releasing of chemicals and feeling comfortable with someone and having passion for someone and lust. I just got pulled back from his words when he said this, and I told him that breaks my heart. It really does that someone , and i’m sure he isn’t the only one I know for a fact that believes there isn’t a real channeling of love… I told him I believe there is a higher power, and I do feel connected. He said you can tell yourself that all the time until you believe it. You can’t see it . I said you can feel it though. I then said like what is happening right now, me and you communicating, language is just a barrier of expression, and he agreed. But what I was getting at is, the communication that we do i transferring energy pretty much , putting energy into a sound.
Then I went on and explained how everything can break down into nothing. He disagreed. I explained that it breaks down into protons neutrons and electrons, those are all energy charges. It still is something.. but you can’t see it . Even my boss agreed with me and he studied physics. He agreed with me up to a point.
Just know whatever you see as your truth, find peace in it…. because someone else’s truth can be totally different than yours and throw you off because his really did. I did not judge his views I took in what he had to say.
& I just wanted to share these quotes today, because they speak to me : ) Have a good Day , and remember you can always find your peace any where you are no matter what the outside world is doing, you are your sanctuary , and if you havent found your temple in your head yet, create it ! and if you don’t want to and you think i’m just blowin smoke, then you don’t have to take in my words either. We’ll all float on , any way. . . :)
“Nothing, Everything, Anything, Something: If you have nothing, then you have everything, because you have the freedom to do anything, without the fear of losing something.”
“Don’t be afraid of emptiness, get used to it”
>>> “Nothing, Everything, Anything, Something: If you have nothing, then you have everything, because you have the freedom to do anything, without the fear of losing something.”
Whoosh! I needed this wisdom today.
Love and thanks.
That was a good conversation you guys had. My roommate and I always talk about things on a more spiritual level as we both believe in God, Im catholic and he’s Muslim. I like to add science and math to the equation as well. We both believe that you should follow your own ways and find a righteous true path.
@tangledupinplaid21, I love when you find someone that just compliments you so well. They bring out the best side of you and you bring out the best in them. If only everyone was open to sharing their bits of heaven with each other the world would be less greedy.
Thanks for reading :)
You’re welcome <3 ! I love seeking wisdom.
@cristinelizabeth, Me and pretty much my best Bro have these conversations too, he is on the “scientific” side, me the “spiritual”, its so amazing to get his perspective on things.
How vast the people of this world’s perspective actually goes.
I really enjoyed your post, especially this part –
“and remember you can always find your peace any where you are no matter what the outside world is doing, you are your sanctuary , and if you havent found your temple in your head yet, create it !”
I base a lot of “my” worldly wisdom on the basis of this deep feeling.
Lately though, science and logic is becoming very appealing to me.
But I do feel the wonders of Love are truly beyond the perpetual laws of simple science know how, its an unlimited vortex of …universal potential !!
Call me Naïve,, but by the gods!! that’s my reality!!
Thanks for the post ! ! !
@cristinelizabeth, Very nice. =) And regarding your friend – I used to believe as he does. I used to see the world in strictly a scientific way. Eventually my path took a more spiritual turn. I’m not saying that’s how it’s going to go for your friend, but don’t be surprised if down the road he starts to become more spiritual. Sometimes things happen in a person’s life that make him/her see that there is indeed a divine spirit to which we are all connected and from which we all arise. Call it universal consciousness, call it god, call it whatever you want. But I know many people, including myself, who have gone from a strictly scientific view of the world to the realization that reality is a double sided coin – science explains the physical world, and spirituality explains the other side of it, and they go together like yin and yang. Right now he’s got one side of it down. He may encounter the other side of it as he becomes older. Heck, even the great scientific minds such as Einstein said, “Anyone who becomes seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that there is a spirit manifest in the laws of the universe – a spirit vastly superior to that of man.”
@kylerbbrowning, That’s awesome. I’m totally on your level. Things change everyday , it’s crazy how much they do and i’m becoming more aware of the changes around me it makes me kind of light headed sometimes. There is so much to be in tune with , but it’s all one at the end of the day. Insane!!! This life is madness lol. What a chaotic symphony (: Love is endless possibilities for sure, opportunities, love could be a beautiful thing is worked on everyday with someone, and not just a routine , get married, have kids, eat dinner thing.
@chodebalm, You totally just shed some light on what I was getting at. I was lost for a while too , but whatever we are feeling today is the only thing that is true and we continue to grow and expand our grasp on everything and being open to all possibilities it’s truly great to feel the love. I respect all views , every aspect is a reality … some people realities are mundane . that is their choice though,,
@chodebalm, haha yes, that happened with my friend!!! I used to preach my “spiritual” beliefs at him and he’d do nothing but scoff or argue… I stopped trying to convince him of anything and he eventually came around. DMT played a huge role in that of course. ;)
@cristinelizabeth, I used to be similar to the person you described, believing in purely a left sided brain way of thinking, that science and math is the answer and that anything can be rationalised and understood through both math and science. Although a lot of people understood to a certain extent why I believed the way I did and had told me of their opinions on why I felt this way, I still had to come to my own reasoning and understanding due to my own stubbornness. I’m not saying their are a particular set of circumstances that in turn lead to thinking this way that love is just a chemical reaction of the brain, although I still believe their is truth in this statement I understand now how fundamental love is and that the bottom line is unity and love. The schematics of how this comes about is irrelevant and those claiming anything other are, in my own opinion and experiences of people with similar thoughts.. because they are not receiving enough love, my advice would be to share as much love with this person as you can, not in terms of a romantic relationship if that’s not the type of connection you have but as much love as you can give in friendship. It is a lonely set of beliefs to hold that love is merely a chemical/electrical reaction of the brain in given circumstances.
Although I would change the quote on emptiness, I wouldn’t say fear it nor get used to it. If their is a problem then change it, if emptiness causes unhappiness don’t just get used to it, change it. Fill the emptiness. If their isn’t a problem then obviously carry on as you like.
truth is that math and science hold a lot of practicality in understanding the world but some things can’t be understood through our limited senses and understanding but it is important everybody finds their own belief systems, not because they are the reality of what is happening from an existential point of view but because holding your own system of beliefs and getting it ‘right’ (although right is subjective) is integral to living life to its potential.
@tangledupinplaid21, Man…I want to try DMT so bad. The advice I’ve been given regarding DMT is that I should “have a pretty good understanding of how reality works” before you try DMT. Without ever having tried it, I know exactly what is meant by that. Meditation has given me a lot of insight into it, and even my understanding of quantum mechanics has help shaped my understanding of what to expect, though I’m aware that words will most likely fail to adequately describe the profoundness of the experience. Nonetheless I’m still excited to try it sometime.
@chodebalm, Hmmm, i wouldn’t give that advice. First of all, how reality works is a matter of opinion, secondly, DMT can show you how reality works(whatever that may mean to you), thirdly, you don’t really need an understanding of anything to try it, just a willingness for adventure and the willingness to experience the feeling of forgetting what being a human is, along with every preconceived notion you’ve ever had.
I was once like your friend, let me tell you. Math and Science – they explained everything. That all changed when I started questioning things though.
If protons, electrons, and neutrons are the building blocks. Well… where the hell did they come from? I’m not saying a “God” just went poof and made them there either. If you ask yourself with an honest and open mind, “how was the beginning created”.. well the answer is unknown. With that, I’m just saying I think there is a lot more to our reality than what our 5 senses can tell our mind.
Its like an equation:
(Science+Math) x Religion x The spirit x Z =The Truth.
Solve for Z.
Peace & Love.

@ijesuschrist, “Science has yet to explain how consciousness is either of these, though.”
Out of curiosity, what does science say consciousness is? What’s its best explanation? I tend to approach things from the way of, unexplained, mystical things are cool and all, I mean, I LOVE good fiction and I enjoy the romantic viewpoint, I wish I could see things more romantically myself but I feel that in real life things are very scientific and mathematical, like, if you dig deep enough and break things down to smallest components, you will find science, math, order. And it’s these layers upon layers of ordered processes of varying complexity put together into a giant thing which at a distance appears to be a mystical force. Couple all of this with our past of not fully understanding the science of things, unexplained phenomena being seen as deities and magic and aliens. Kind of like the Wizard of Oz. Like the OP said about her friend’s point of view, I feel even extreme things like love, hate, and things like that are ultimately made of thoughts, habits, and the brain’s physical release of chemicals.
I realize I could use Google here, but I’m betting you know more about this than I do so I’d like to hear your take.
@theskafish, They don’t know.
The most scientific explanation that has any bearing is they say its an emergent effect of neurons communicating to each other.
That’s it. That’s the end of their explanation. An emergent effect is basically saying ‘we don’t really understand it, but we think its still scientific!’
