I was reading about the Fermi Paradox and the Great Filter and thought this would be an interesting question to ask. Any thoughts?
Although I wouldn’t be surprised if we did find extra-terrestrial life, purely based on the size of our observable universe, I can’t bring myself to believe in something for which we have no empirical evidence. Nevertheless, I think the search is worthy.
I do believe that there exists “Aliens”, as in other intelligent life, somewhere in the abundant universe.. One side of me believes that we’ll never be able to cross the galaxy or inter-galactic space to encounter them, but then the other side of me, having read f.ex. the book Biocentrism, believes that maybe technology truly can find workings within our framework of physics that will allow us to make the trip!
I don’t think they’ve been here on earth, but if they have, they built the pyramids! :-P
But I do like the sci-fi-book “The Lost Book of Enki” where humans are created by aliens for slavery until they leave us be.. great story that implements some religous references (alien gods..) :-)
In the end it doesn’t really matters untill we actually encounter them, so untill then, lets focus on our own planet for now.. (while of course searching within our capabilites).. I fear our human tendencies more than an alien invasion..
