Do you believe in God?

Kayla (@kayla147258) 8 years, 11 months ago

I just seriously had a 2-3 hour debate with some friends over here. I have no idea what I believe, one dude is hardcore Christian, the other believes is a Christian, too, but is more open minded. I have to admit during the conversation I started to get a little scared of going to a ‘hell’. But at the same time I don’t think I could bring myself to believe that God would create something so terrible.

I’ve heard that we are all God, everything is God, the trees, planets, universe, etc. All in one. But we are experiencing everything differently.

Then there is the one almighty God.

…And multiple Gods.

Every argument we had we both counter acted back at each other pretty well. We’ve all had some religious experiences whether it be dreams or ‘signs’ from God. But at the same time I could argue with the mind is just that powerful to make you think you were talking to God in a dream, or the laws of attraction could be what you’ve been praying for.

I’m so lost in my beliefs I don’t know where to turn. I’ve prayed, I just don’t know what to believe in anymore. The mind is pretty powerful and can play tricks on you, how do you even know this is all real? I bet I sound pretty crazy but I guess I am driving myself crazy by trying to find all these answers.

@lougrey, Okay, so you haven’t read the bible-cool.

And as far as assumptions go- I do believe you assumed I was either ignorant or racist.

So, since you are knowledgeable about other religions- do explain Buddhism, Hinduism, and Doaism to me. Disprove them.
You aren’t proving anything wrong, you are simply giving your OPINION- yes, my comments are opinions too, but I at least recognize that.

The slaves back then, are the same slaves we have now- you and me. We are slaves to our government- obedient workers, etc. We just have it easier now, because we HAVE come so far. It doesn’t prove or disprove the validity in ANY religion though.

Your disregard for certain questions of mine in previous posts are a little disconcerting for someone who is trying to ‘educate’
Remember, you are the one that said “You are too young to think about the bible” What a load of horseshit.

@lougrey, You haven’t commented on the fact that a shitload of scientists believe in a god- If you even know what the incompleteness theorems are, or mentioned anything about the concept of god itself. You source bullshit from a book you’ve never read, and say “I got facts from NASA” without even showing or stating any facts.

Why do you think about the concept of god? Idc what your beliefs are, you still think about it!

Oh and science has never attempted to prove or disprove god. Ever.

@hollowinfinity, I’ve read the bible and used to be an avid follower for 16 years of my life.
Here is a simple fact to prove religion is just in people’s heads. MRI and several other brain scans have been used to map out the brains actions.
Turns out when people pray, and think their minds are meditating or having a spiritual awakening, it’s just their frontal lobe interacting with their auditory sections of their brains to make understanding of what is happening.
I am not a slave to the government, I’m a capitalist and fully utilize my rights and knowledge of the government to not become an “obedient” servant of this government.

I haven’t dodged your questions, I’ve answered them.

I don’t assume your a racist or ignorant, I am simply using the information you have given me to decide that you are either of the two.
You’re wrong again, I am giving my opinion but, using facts to back it which makes mine far more correct than yours.

@lougrey, Still have yet to address the questions. Where is your disproof of the other religions I have mentioned, why so many scientists believe in a god, or if you even know the ‘broke’ part of logic?

“Turns out when people pray, and think their minds are meditating or having a spiritual awakening, it’s just their frontal lobe interacting with their auditory sections of their brains to make understanding of what is happening.”
Wtf does that have to do with anything? You use your brain! Unless you can find consciousness in that scanner, that doesn’t show me anything. Besides, have you never read any of the amazing benefits of meditation itself, and how similar praying is to meditation? Or how A LOT of religions use meditation?

Well, as long as we’re all making assumptions here- I will use the information you’ve given me to assume that you are one of the most ignorant people I’ve ever talked to on this subject.

Do you know that scared feeling of “going to hell” you get? Tackle it and that’s called opening your eyes. You don’t go to hell when you die, what happens is you are finally realizing that heaven and hell is right here on earth, every single day of your life. Overcome that and everything is just cakewalk.

@hollowinfinity, I don’t wish to spend a lot of time debating logic over the internet so I will do this quickly. The disproof of the religions all at once are located in the statement I gave about the brain scans.

Consciousness: This was found on the scanners. When your auditory and frontal lobe interact with one another, the messages are transported through your neural network to your conscious mind located in the middle-to-rear regions of your brain, which is why you feel aware and believe you are having a spiritual encounter but, in reality you’re brain is just confused because it’s not use to shutting down one or more of its sensors.

Scientist and Faith: Only 1-2% of scientist actually believe in a God or religion [PEW].

Meditation, prayer and these activities have amazing benefits. You allow your brain to take in less information, giving it a chance to relax and cause your conscious mind to step outside of the norm.

Look going into all of these other religions with, similar philosophical non-evidence basis will consume too much time. Which is why I provide you with a neural example to shut them all down. Hopefully now you understand how your brain works and why religion is based off of ignorance of self and the natural world order of physics.

@lougrey, Yes they found consciousness in a scanner and it wasn’t the biggest fucking discovery EVER. get real man. You have not addressed all my questions, and half-assed the ones you did. actually you didn’t address anything, you avoided them.

“Scientist and Faith: Only 1-2% of scientist actually believe in a God or religion” -prove that.

And, you cannot address the other religions, why logic is ‘broken’ -basically anything that I actually asked.

It seems you are avoiding these questions because you have no ability or means to even answer them. Oh, and as far as ‘no proof’ goes- Prove to me the color blue fucking exists. If you can, explain what it looks like too! Go on. I dare you ;)

@hollowinfinity, I’m not avoiding your questions. Yes I can prove all of these things but that means I may have to be here for another four hours or more.

@lougrey, Then type your reply when you can answer all of my questions. Until then, I’m done with this conversation. If you don’t reply, I’ll assume you accepted your ignorance.

I’ll restate the questions a 3rd (or 4th?) time-

How can you disprove Buddhism, Hinduism, or Doaism?
Provide proof that only 2% scientists believe in a god or religion.
What does the color blue look like? And can you prove it exists?
Have you ever heard of the Incompleteness theorems and how it shows the ‘broke’ part in logic?
Oh and I’m really curious about how you think consciousness was discovered in a scanner.
Why do you, yourself think about the concept of god? REGARDLESS OF BELIEF
Why does everyone, literally everyone think about the concept of god in their lifetimes? REGARDLESS OF BELIEF
Oh, and I’m also curious as to why you followed the bible for what 16 years, and then became so uneducated and against it. What changed? and why did you even believe it in the first place?

I’m sure there are a million more questions I can ask that you will be sure to dodge, one way or another.

/Peace.

I believe in ‘God’ because I’m not an idiot lol. Believing does nothing though.
You must feel God.
My idea of God is a very concrete one.
My short cut phrase to understanding/feeling God: ‘God is relativity. ‘
That is to say, the interaction among All that comprises what is essentially the universal imagination.
The universe is like the internet and we are all plugged in.
There is no God to point to, rather, you can’t not point to God.
You are just as much God as you always have been and always will be – the sensation of feeling this on the cellular level is fucking outstanding.
Find God in the spaces between – what is being resonated. A good tactic is to really, really start paying attention to sounds as they rise and fall. Talk radio and kid shows are really good outlets for this. Once you can tune yourself to what is really happening around you and within you it’s like your intelligence has increased exponentially – you just start knowing shit.

This is surely the level that every great artist and thinker in history was on – whether they knew what was happening or not.

It is self awareness on a profound level. It is boundless too, there is no limit to awareness.

@hollowinfinity, 100% true. I've heard even the sentence "I'm atheist, I believe only in the science", LOL.

@hollowinfinity
You’re demanding that @lougrey provide proof of his statements yet you link linkverse? That’s funny. Also, most of your questions that you asked have some fairly simple answers. Why not try looking them up?

[Hidden]
Alex (551) (@hollowinfinity) 8 years, 11 months ago ago

@cascoon, That link wasn’t addressed at any one-just worth a read. And no, there isn’t fairly simple answers, and I cannot speak on behalf of his beliefs/opinions. I know how I feel about these subjects. If you wanna be a prick, yeah, i’m gunna ask you to at least prove yourself instead of acting like you have all the answers.
