Do you need motivation? I need your help!!!!!

Waddupdawg (@hellomary513) 9 years, 4 months ago

Hey! I’m thinking of creating a social network based on motivation in all aspects of life (not just fitness which is the most popular now). Members of the website would be able to reblog pictures and quotes, post videos, create goal timelines, success meter, vision board, and create personalized pages. I feel like people need direction and a reminder to be on track with what they want in life. If people had one place to go remind themselves of their dreams they would accomplish them much quicker. Often, social networks become a waste of time because people lurk others (which I am guilty of also) and don’t do much besides stare at a screen. What I am starting would be all about you and how you can be a better person. Do you think this is a good idea and do you think people actually would use it? It would also be an application for phones.

That’s a great idea. People do need a constant reminder to inspire them… It is too easy to drift into apathy. I come to this site when I need inspiration. Many people love social networks because they get a lot of attention and thumbs ups and likes. A lot of people are addicted to facebook and the attention they get. It could be interesting using this desire for attention to get people to put social pressure on themselves to accomplish things.

One thing… how would it be different than this site… I come here when I need inspiration.

Cheers

I think this is a grand idea. I too have gone into many mind zapping episodes in the world of Facebook where I come out more discouraged than encouraged–sometimes. Luckily I have a good friend that has made a group on Fb that is specifically for motivating us–his friends–that deals with accountability and sharing our stories of what we would like to accomplish. Seeing that we are all working towards a goal, or would LIKE TO START to work a goal but have no idea how, this proposed new social media would be eeexcellent! Question is, where are the tech savvy people to start it?! Come on, let’s organize this!

I love the idea, I think it would be very cool to see people’s profiles of goals/ accomplishments/ progress. If you are serious about this and do it right, I really think that it has the potential to be a huge hit

I’d sign up for that. It’d be great to have something to help with studies.

SparkPeople.com is pretty much this. Progress bars showing how far they are from their goals, individual pages, meal trackers, message boards for motivation, groups that acheive goals together.

Not to burst your bubble, just letting you know.

@alexmayle,

Sparkpeople is great for fitness and nutrition! But I think those are really its main points of focus. I think @hellomary513 is trying to involve motivation is other areas of life too :)

What if it was for more than just motivation of self. What if it was designed for the positive progression of our species as a whole as well as empowering others and finding our own true inner strength and bliss. What if we could take every conscious and positive movement that has been spreading awareness (Zeitgeist, Venus, Open source, GoGreen, ect.) and be able to combine all the information available on one network. Not the information on what is wrong, but on what we can do to change things. If we could bring these ideas and information together in one place and allow others to let their voice and dreams be heard, then we just might be able to do something.

We could use this network to re-form our current system. Have different categories on the site such as education, energy, health/wellness, self development, agriculture, ect. to be able to view and post in forums, browse scientific research and different theories, and even vote on what Ideas sound the best and spread them. We can take all of this amazing knowledge that the internet allows us to discover and combine it into one POSITIVE and PROGRESSIVE site. We can still have independent profiles and social activity, but more pushed towards your true self, not defining who you are based upon what books you read, or bands and TV shows you like. We need to EVOLVE. The internet is the perfect way. :)

We could even take it much further….
While working with our currently existing system, but not under the dependence of it WE will be able to question and address problems in every sector of our society while the people will be actively researching what is most beneficial for human, animal, and planet as ONE. We could use a social network such as this to examine the effects of every detail of our culture and the people and decide TOGETHER what changes should be made and more intensely focused on. We must observe our behavior and modify it simultaneously as a collective. We could start gathering those ready to make an extreme change in the way they live and create new cities. Not ones separate from our system, but to be the new hope for it.

This is not a movement but a response to the current shift in human awareness. It is the next stage in evolution; a period of advancement in rapid progression through the creation of new alternative communities that are going to be the epicenters for change and trial, incorporating new ideas for a different kind of system. One built upon equality and respect for each other, the planet, and all the organisms in it. These cities will be the conjoining of simplicity and advanced technology created outside the web of profit and competition. Through a social network people can actively learn and participate in what changes must take place and experience a physical place that is unlike anything this country has seen before. It is time to move forward. If anyone is interested in knowing more, or would love to throw in some input or ideas, then please feel free to message me. This cannot happen without people like you. Lets change the world. ;)

Noone needs motivation because he/she doesnt have to do anything with his/her life. If youre “motivated” it means you have a goal in life. But if you realize that you have no goal, whats the point. :P

@jenvoo, I love your response and thank you to everyone else for their input. @jenvoo, If it becomes a thing, would you like to be a part of it? You can run that aspect of it. I did also think about posting videos on that, such as meditation and increasing awareness because I always encourage people to be the best they can be and spirituality is the best way to get there.

@dobbyfisher, The inspiration would come from visuals and talking to people. Do you use instagram? For me, I go on it to get inspiration from other peoples’ journeys by looking at their pictures and quotes and tumblr is cool too because there is a fitness community on there and you can reblog pictures to make your own page. My idea is to combine a blog where people can communicate but also a personalized page for themselves where they can track their goals. Any goal. Have you seen The Secret or heard of a vision board? Members would be able to create their own and be able to remember their priorities in life.

@abungay309, yes! Let’s face it, everyone wants to be fit (for the most part) or be healthy. There are so many resources for that but what I am starting would be goals greater than that. Have you seen The Secret? I want to include ideas like that such as the law of attraction and vision boards. They can organize their wildest dreams and be able to talk to people who have gotten to where they want to be.

@thepinkmoon, thanks so much!! If enough people like the idea I am either going to learn how to make a website or possibly hire someone.

A progression bar and timeline to see progress. Maybe gimmicky things like achievements/medals?

Dustin (32) (@dobbyfisher) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@hellomary513

That sounds like a wonderful site… If you have the knowhow to create a webpage I would say go for it. Really, that would benefit a lot of people. I have instagram, but only one pic on there, hah. But I do know what you are saying about seeing other peoples journey and sharing ideas, photos, thoughts, with a wide group of people. Best of luck, be sure to let us all know of your progress!

As for the secret, I have seen it; law of attraction right?

[Hidden]
Waddupdawg (4) (@hellomary513) 9 years, 4 months ago ago

@dobbyfisher, Thanks!! I believe in the law of attraction and creating a vision board so on the website they can access their own and be able to change it whenever they want.

@hellomary513, I would love to be a part of it! This is something I have been working on for years. It seems I have so many ideas, but have not taken action because I am a bit technologically retarded. haha. I am much more for the old fashioned pen and paper method. But the internet has some amazing advantages. I will help create this. It is my life goal actually. Let me know if you want to chat about this more. :) Hope to hear from you soon!

I admire your willingness and courage of posting this idea to a public forum, in which anyone could steal your idea. If someone does, you’ll know it was good. 513

@jenvoo, Alright. I will definitely contact you once I have things figured out. I am looking for someone who can design the website currently. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your support and help!

@applemiko, I am already in the process of creating it and there were also some things I didn’t share so I hope no one steals my idea :)
