Environments Conducive For Working On Projects

Anonymous (@) 8 years, 9 months ago

You have dreamed.
You have identified a dream worth pursuing.
You are amidst the pursuit.

But where are you, literally?

In other words, what kind of environment has come to encompass your efforts? Is it your bedroom, your basement, a coffee shop, a park, etc.? What is it that makes one place better than another in terms of being able to sustain focus and maintain drive? I’m in college currently, and can’t seem to get shit done outside of my studies. I’ll be taking a year off to work on a couple of personal projects, but am not entirely convinced that my own abode will serve as the best grounds for inspiration.

Any thoughts?

I work out of my bedroom and think about the same thing a lot. For me going for short walks, switching rooms in the house, or occasionally going to a coffee shop works. I like sitting outside and working on my iPad, usually at a park or something.. That ones always a treat

Room, headphones, night time, coffee. Or the library.

When I was in New York I stopped at this cafe on Madison Avenue and was really disappointed I had nothing on me such as work or a book. The place just gave me this vibe of wanting to sit there all day and be productive, watching people walk by and the various customers eating and drinking interesting things.

I find you cant rely on one place or productivity becomes stagnant.
Try places of movement, could be a coffee shop in town or a park. Seeing other people with purpose motivates me to pursue mine. Other times i look for solitude brings focus and clarity being by water works great. I feel the waves bring rhythm to work. But thats just me.
Experiment, if its writing your into always carry the tools on you. Never know when you could come across a moment/place of inspiration.
