So I’m 20 years old and from NY, and I’d like to get my bachelors degree sometime in the next 5 years. I finished my associates in Liberal Arts, and got accepted into UC Boulder for Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. After a very close friend passed away suddenly I decided to take a semester off of school, which somehow ended up turning into a year.
Where did you go to school? If at all? Are you glad you did/didn’t?
For anyone who’s taken time off of school…
What did you do with your free time? You know, did you travel? Get a job and save up? I guess I’m just wondering what time off of school well spent is.
Did you change your major? I’m having serious doubts about mine since the last semester I was in school. How did you know a major was right for you?
Does anyone have any regrets on going to school? Did you / do you think this is time I could be spending figuring out life and seeing the world? And THEN decide to anchor myself down with college debt?
For school, against school, ALL opinions welcome :)
1. I went to UWM for a semester and I really didn’t enjoy it. I was stressed all the time and I hated the majority of my classes. I’m not sure if that was because I was just in the wrong major or I’m just really bad at school. I’m glad I had the opportunity to at least try school though.
2. I’ve been working and trying to find out myself and who I am. I got a full-time job and have been saving up to live on my own.
3. I’m thinking about changing my major to psychology but I’m not really sure what exactly to do. It’s been a really big challenge in my life to figure out what my true passion is and what I really want to do/get into. And yeah I’m really interested to know how people know what major is right for them.
