Fuck the government?

Zykanthos (@chodebalm)8 years, 6 months ago

No.

The government is not something which is separate from you. It is not some all-powerful entity which controls society. We hear the word “government” and we associate it with the idea that it’s some big evil group of people out to get you.

It’s not. The government is made up of people just like you; people just like the people you see in public.

The government is a representation of the public. The politicians in office are there because we voted them there, and we voted for them because we believe they represent our best interests.

So when you hear people saying “Fuck the government”, it is not the government you’re mad at. What you’re really mad at is the state of mind of our society. They wouldn’t be there if we hadn’t put them there.

The government is not there to tell you what to do. They are there so you can tell THEM what to do. And you have been. We all have been. We’ve been telling them what to do, and we’ve been doing this unintentionally.

We’ve been allowing our government to do what they want, because we believe they are more powerful than us. By allowing them to bring us to the state of affairs we’re in today, we’ve been silently telling them that it’s okay to continue doing what they’re doing. We allow corporations to essentially buy out the politicians. Congress is bought and paid for.

We see ourselves as different from the government, never fully realizing that the government is made up of people. Nothing more. The power lies with the people, not the government, because the government IS people.

You wanna change the government? Then our people have to change. And our people will only change when you yourself begin to change. Live by example of how you want the world to be, and eventually it will become a way of life. Pretty soon you’ll start meeting more and more people who believe as you do, and who live the same way as you do, by the same principles and morals. This is how society changes. It’s a slow process; it takes time. But it will change eventually.

That’s why it is so important to be the change you want to see in the world.

Let’s stop pointing fingers. That’s not going to accomplish anything. You know what you have to do.

How often in history can you really say that we have had true democracy (that’s what you’re talking about here)? It’s naive to think that it’s just our collective mindset that’s fucked up. The government IS fucked up, and have almost always been fucked up. Remember that the rich and powerfull are behind the governments. It’s not just ordinary people, like you and me, and this is not a conspiracy I’m talking about, it’s just fact, and it’s not hard to realize or learn this. History tells alot. I think it’s much more accurate to say that society, as it is today, is a result of our government. Not the other way around. Do you remember the 60’s & 70’s? How many people gathered to stop the war? Did the government listen? No. So to say that it’s just us, is a highly provoking statement, but you say alot of good things, though.

If we’re gonna make things better we need to change our current collective mindset. It’s violent, hateful, shallow, way too materialistic, it’s just primitive. As you said, we need to be the change we want to see in the world. Hopefully we’ll better ouselves, hopefully we’ll change things, hopefully it’s not too late. I, for one, am optimistic. Even though it’s one hell of a process.

the government just stole, on pain of further theft and violence, 1/5 of all the money i have which took me forever to make. fuck those assholes, i hope they feel good about themselves kicking someone who’s down.

@chodebalm, Who says that anyway? There’s a big difference. That’s just so cliche, all for image really. The less people know the more likely they are going to generalize.

You can totally hate “the government”, it’s totally subjective though what it is. But the thing is are you brave enough to actually realize you are not beneath them? Instead of playing a victim, learn their filth and grow out of it. At least you’re aware.

@chodebalm,

You say they are just people? People like me? People with bodies just like mine do terrible things every day. I will not cut them slack simply because they were born. If they choose to lead lives of corruption and dishonesty, I choose to not be impressed.

The government is full of politicians who lie to get their jobs or else they don’t get their jobs. The presidential election is a reality TV show sponsored by outrageously detrimental corporations who would rather sit on a mountain of bills than have a planet to live on. Ten companies own everything I see, and my government is so busy staring at it’s debt that it owes to a very rich family whilst simultaneously bombing every country that has something it wants, that it doesn’t bother with problems except to bail corruption out.

Fuck the government.

@chodebalm, With all due respect, Fuck the Government, dude. I agree that public policy SHOULD stem from the will of the people and that the passivity of previous generations has left us in this state. However, the way politics work today doesn’t even allow citizens like you or I to make that big of a difference. What happened with Occupy Wall St.? Nothing. A bunch of us ranted and begged for change. It never came. What the US requires is a full on insurrection done BY the people FOR the people. We can create dialogue all we want, but I say actions speak louder than words.

The mega banks own the government… and our society is forced to depend on them, we have a federal reserve, and if you know how that works it just means that they print money out of air and loan it at interest, so at a basic level we are slaves… Any significant accomplishments like renewable energy, or alternative fuels, better education, the truth for that matter is taken away so power stays centralized and ppl stay ignorant…. SO HELL YEA FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And excuse me but fuck the ingnorance……

I say point more fingers… show how fucked up the system is… when you see it I think most of you won’t have the same opinion as Zykanthos. I don’t mean to be personal, but you are making assumptions.

You think you can be the president of the U.S.A???? Then you believe the lies and it’s sad and it sucks…. Every president but one or maybe two traces back to the royal blood line in england and even further into the pharoes of egypt (it’s on paper ppl), you think you are in that club??? then you are fucking stupid.. period.. they are separte, they are corrupt, and they are elite… do some homework and WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama and Bush are cousins…. is that the natural selection of a ‘democratic republic’ ?? yea right…… On the positive side, i’m very glad to be an American with as much opportunity as I have :) ..

@chodebalm, it’s not that simple. the government is only one part of the powers that be. the relationship between the masses and the government is not direct (though it is more so than it was originally). what you are saying only somewhat makes sense, on a local level. the centralized power is removed from the general populace, except as far as its image goes. elect one or the other, they still are the elites. yes you can become one, but when you do you are no longer regular folk.

@chodebalm, great post. You have grown so much in you viewpoints in the past few months. Im glad you came to these realities. Our society has degraded itself so much to the point of blaming inanimate things for everything. Guns, food, drugs, the government, etc. Its easy to place blame on everything, because it takes the blame off of you. Great post, man.

I mean this is an ignorant post… it’s simply incorrect… to me it’s part of the problem, so in that sense I guess it’s personal.. but what I meant was I hope you don’t take to much offense by saying your wrong…

And I don’t need meds.. I’d just like for ingnorace to stop..

What I said were facts… our presidents with the exception of 2 come from the same bloodline which date back to egyptian times.. Is that wierd or what… and that’s just the tip of it.. look at what they control..

Look at all the organizations that are controlled and push policy, the IMF, The Club of Rome, The Bank of England, the Bilderburg group… on and on and on… So before you wanna say i’m stupid or crazy… maybe you should look at this shit and learn how the effect YOUR life..

Have you even heard of any of those groups?? Do you have any idea how this institutions effect your life? If not, then honestly, you are in the dark

So like I said i’m sorry for being a dick… but it’s the truth

Zykanthos (4,757)M (@chodebalm) 8 years, 6 months ago ago

@mkp843, I’m not sure who you’re talking to, or if you’re talking to me, but yes, I know about all of those groups. I’ve spent the last 3 years obsessed with it. I’ve spent countless hours watching documentaries, reading articles, reading books, contributing and studying forums where ideas are shared, etc.

Thanks for your contribution sir. And I’m not being sarcastic by saying that. I mean it wholeheartedly. Just because someone disagrees with me doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate what they have to say.

[Hidden]
Matt P (16) (@mkp843) 8 years, 6 months ago ago

It’s an issue that upsets me, it gets me excited..

If you have watched all those documentaries how did you decide to come to the conclusion of what you said in this post? The information is contradictory with what your saying.

I agree that a bad attitude is bad, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t know the truth imo.. ?

[Hidden]
Zykanthos (4,757)M (@chodebalm) 8 years, 6 months ago ago

@mkp843, Because you can’t change THEM! How you gonna do that? Sure, with all the knowledge we have about the groups mentioned and all the issues in our world, it sure would be nice to overthrow every corrupt mother fucker and get us on the right track. But how you gonna do that? At the end of the day, what’s the only thing you really have control of? Yourself. No one else. Therefore it is only yourself that matters. It’s only your beliefs that matter. Your beliefs shape your reality. That is a fact.

And I know it sounds cliché to say “be the change you wish to see in the world”, but it’s absolutely true. It takes a change in your belief system to really change your reality. And when you do that, pretty soon you find other people who believe the same as you. Awareness and knowledge start to spread simply by you living by example of the awareness and knowledge you have. As awareness and knowledge spread, more and more people “wake up” and are able to take a step back and look at everything in a different light. That’s the only way things change. People can’t change their belief systems unless they encounter a higher level of awareness. And it’s up to people like you and me to spread this awareness. I know I’m beating a dead horse by continuing to say this, but again, that’s why it’s so crucial to be the change you want to see. There’s no other way to change the world.

“they are separte, they are corrupt, and they are elite”

Elite is a point of view, everyone is corrupt, and thinking they are separate seems like the reasoning of paranoid conspiracy theorist. The most corrupt, elitist dictators in history still wanted to be cuddled, until they started believing the crazy stories of idiots telling them they were monsters.

If enough ppl know about the way it actually is, eventually it will get to the ppl that will be in the right position to make a difference. I was standing up for what I believed to be a positive reinforcement of what I believe should be.

I just don’t agree with what you said in the post. They are not ppl like you and me, they are not inclusive with us. The idea of government is good when it remains soley with infrastructure and morals. I guess that’s where it lies now but the infrastructure is massively lopsided and the morals are grotesch*..

The government is not a representation of the public, it is a corporation that seeks domination and self preservation.

“So when you hear people saying “Fuck the government”, it is not the government you’re mad at. What you’re really mad at is the state of mind of your society. They wouldn’t be there if we hadn’t put them there.” I agree with that…

I just don’t think turning a blind eye is right….. if everyone saw them for what they were, I believe things would start to change…… I think it would be demanded and ppl would be held accountable….

I agree with the bottom half of your post but not the top half

“it is a corporation that seeks domination and self preservation.”

Strikingly similar to one of our most popular words.

-ego
The part of you that defines itself as a personality, separates itself from the outside world, and considers itself (read: you) a separate entity from the rest of nature and the cosmos. Perhaps necessary for survival in some evolutionary bygone, in modern times it leads only to (albeit often disguised) misanthropic beliefs and delusion. –

Imagine that.

People should watch Star-Trek, the original is pretty much just Cowboys in Space, but I mean Next Gen: Picard commands a ship that holds over a thousand people, not just crew and soldiers but civilians, the families of the crew including children. You really get the sense of the kind of weight Picard has on his shoulders, the responsibilties he faces every day.
Now, you are looking at a little over 1000 people, he has to send people directly to their deaths, he has to abandon a bunch of people to save a bunch of others, he has to make deals with scumbags, he has to protect people who would sooner kill him and everyone on board. You do not really grasp the kinds of command decisions a Captain must make, the sacrifices, until you watch Picard at work.
Now take that 1000 and add another 180,000,000 people to it, and tell me you understand what that is like.

We need a new breed of politicians. Which I hope the next generation will provide. Our “government” is getting older as is the majority of the population. The average age in Congress is 58, and the Senate is 61. So I suppose the ideals of the younger generation is under-represented. I guess this is just one of many factors that we need to change in our government that I found it a bit interesting. What do you guys think?
