George bataille's Erotism

On page 64 of Erotism: death and sensuality (city lights printing) Bataille states in regards to transgression: “I am even convinced that without the prohibition war would be impossible and inconceivable!….we cannot say therefore that war and violence are in conflict. But war is organized violence.”

My opinion on this is extremely murky and I’d like to correlate the argument to the opinion that there hasn’t been a western ‘war’ since the 40s. I’d also like thoughts on how taboo can be applied to terrorism and to the burgeoning of new types of ‘violence’; the technological and economic kinds.
