Giving up mental hangups about politics

“One who has no spine cannot be broken”, something I once heard.
It’s brought to mind when I read what people say about politicians and events surrounding them. On one side the better flatterer and liar gets an upper hand, on the other side people lash out about it.

We have much more important things to focus our time and energy on, than feeling insulted and scared by what a politician says (or said ages ago) to sway the weak-minded.

Unfortunately, this is what society looks like so get over it and do something constructive and worthwhile instead of crying over people being stupidheads. That people are generally stupid and vile many times is something I thought most grown people already knew. Trump and his goons are neither the first nor anywhere near the worst in the world or even in the current American political sphere to act like this. Nor is Clinton the ultimate pseudo-lib dictator. There’s more than the surface.

You’re either a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Hatred and reactive bevaior only contributes to the problem. The solution is to be the bigger person and choose wisely. Hating on Hillary and bowing to Trump to avoid her makes you a bigger part of the problem. Hating on Trump and getting on Hillary’s leash to keep him out makes you a bigger part of the problem.

It’s sad that reality looks like it does, but the future is ours. If we stop getting hung up on superficial shit and start contributing to democracy by focusing on real issues and not superficial ideological loyalty or the liars who represent their parties.

Preaching and voting out of fear and rustled jimmies is what makes the world worse.

Thanks for reading :)
