Going Mute

Shea (@Sheasheak) 7 years, 4 months ago

Today I realized that I didn’t need to talk anymore. There wasn’t anything I really needed to say. So starting tomorrow my friend and I were having this discussion and I will be going mute tomorrow for 30 days. No talking before or after school. I will be using an app to talk for me. But I will never let a word leave my lips. I am still in school so I have to write notes to the teachers. I will see if I can stay mute for 30 days. After 30 days I will then bump it up to another 30 days. I will see how long I can be mute before I finally break the streak. I will keep you updated on the results as the days go by. Actually this will be updated as soon as I can every day. So wish me the best of luck :)

I am interested in going mute as well. Have you begun?

Yes I have begun. Let me tell you. With being in school I am seeing why people get so irritated. Without talking and observing what is happening I am realizing how hard this actually is in life. This experience has been…….wow….

Haha, that is fantastic. Do come back and tell us about your experiences! One of my favourite books is planet walker. He took a vow of silence for 19 years. In that time, he accomplished many great things. I will add his ted talk to the front page feed now!

I do this once in a while. Sometimes i do it in a party on purpose, and the reactions are just funny.

You will notice that people try really hard to parrot whatever they’ve learned to be funny/clever.  If you know your way around social media you can easily spot walking memes. It’s like people are surely to repeat what gave them favorable reactions in online life towards real situations. You will attract a lot of energy doing this, get ready for rumors and gossip.

Sounds fun!

Good luck, sounds like an interesting study. :)

I hope it works out the way you want it, and I’m pretty interested to see how long you can keep it up!
