Good resources for a beginner chemist?

I’d really like to start learning chemistry homebrew style. I’m very interested in seeing how products are made and put onto our shelves, and want to experiment with making my own stuff. This can range from soap, to food, to nuclear weapons, I’m just generally interested in chemistry and would like to start expanding my knowledge. I’ve taken college classes but I have very little practical knowledge…
I recently started looking up how to make e cig liquid, which is pretty simple, but requires one to purchase products from a company, so I dig further. I looked up how to make the vegetable glycerin involved, which requires coconut oil, olive oil, and lye (based on an Ask.com article, I’d like to learn more about the chemistry involved here too). From there I looked up how to make coconut oil. These processes are very interesting and I love learning the basics of how we make things. I’m surprised nobody has made an info graphic of how to smoke a coconut yet… Anyway, I’m looking for resources that focus on things like this.
