HE Chat forum

Wouldn’t it be fun (like a food fight) if High Exsistence had a real time chat forum (IRC)? It would be a great way to learn more from each other. Although it could get testy I’ll bet. Creative people will always be a tad eccentric doncha know, and internet relay chat can be a challenging medium for communicating. It requires some forward thinking (discernment) given the absence of speech intonation, eye contact, facial expressions and body language. Just a thought.

@sobroquet, six days and no feedback? Wow.

Back in my teenage years I used to hang around this social network called Vampirefreaks.com (I know, I know…). What I loved about it was the chat-function. It was full of regular users who I became friends with, it was chock full of new people every day and the possibility of webcam-chatting made it possible to jam, perform individually (a surprising amount of talented musicians on the site) and clown around in general.

Of course, those were the good sides, and unfortunately it had more bad sides. The people on there were mostly preteens (or older, yet childlike people) craving for attention at any cost. A lot of people got on there daily to get their dose of drama and worship for whatever they were wearing in their hair that day (or something). It was filled with who we supposed were pedophiles looking for some young webcam-girls to woo.

I left the site ages ago and didn’t think about online social networking again until just recently. I wondered why there wasn’t a community like that for conscious people. I missed connecting with strangers and finding new friends, missed the jams, but didn’t care for the drama and the constant “lookatmelookatmelookatme”-mentality.

By stroke of luck I found HE. This site is amazing, exactly what I was looking for – save for one thing, and that thing is what this topic is about. The articles on here are awesome, the forums are great (and not to mention addicting) and the people seem to be brilliant. I can’t believe no one’s bumping this. Live interaction with conscious people – who wouldn’t want that?

@qualohuasca, The dilemma of having a real time chat forum is complicated by all the items you mentioned; drama queens, trolls, spammers, et al. It would necessitate having monitors, and that’s something the owner would have to delegate. I rather doubt he has the time or the inclination. As for the “six days,” I’m rather certain its an idea that’s been kicked around before, and doesn’t warrant response. Cheers!

@sobroquet, Realtime chat would involve some heavy java programming, as well as a good amount of bandwidth and can cause site issues. I believe that’s more or less why realtime chat hasn’t been integrated with the site. You are right though – the idea has been talked about before. I don’t believe it will come to fruition though, at least not anytime soon. That being said, there is a new version of Highexistence on its way. HE 4.0. Can’t say when it will be launched but as I’ve said before, there are going to be some great new features you guys will love, and the new design looks terrific. There will also be some new security measures to prevent spambots from spamming the forums. Overall it is going to be great for the HE community.

I’ve been a stealth HEthen for a few months, just joined yesterday. Thought about IRC and searched for and found this topic. There are free hosted IRC channels if I’m not mistaken and it wouldn’t be hard to monitor I feel. with a few precautions we could cut out most trolls and bots I’m sure. I’m up for being part of this if I can do anything to help develop this let me know!
