Hippy Ego is Not Helping Advance our Consciousness

Kyle (@smileforkyle) 8 years, 3 months ago

Lately I’ve been thinking that most hippies turn out to be hypocritical and are more concerned about their image as a “hippy” then the ideals seem to be representing. I feel like most acclaimed hippies I come in contact are all about this chill, reject society mentality which turns out to them just being intoxicated…smoking weed, cigarettes…drinking alcohol whiskey, just enjoying their life like there is no tomorrow. But there is a tomorrow and we have the power to change the world! This is what frustrates me. I feel like these “hippies” who “meditate” and know all about the “chakras” and energy in life need to wake up! And realize that them enjoying their life on intoxicants and acting super chill is not benefiting our planet and the future of our consciousness! what do you guys think?

@tangledupinplaid21, i agree, peace and com-passion or the harmonious functioning of Systems is more efficient than discordant states and thus more desirable, but before the organism can regenerate, and run at its maximum efficiency once more, the immune system must identify and anihilate or neutralize the pathogenic elements.

Thus life is a constant struggle.

The Hippie dream of perpetual silent peace and universal “love” can only be attained at the cost of retarding nature and silencing the struggle which is the expression of life’s neverending ascendance towards perfection.

@smileforkyle, Keep in mind that it’s all propaganda that paints “hippies” that way. Although the problem is that in modern times people ignorantly identify with a stereotype molded through propaganda and they think it’s the end point of the culture.

They forget to actually study on how much intellect and social climate that writers, artists and activists from that culture brought upon what we have today. Good things are always made into commodities that you could sell, because it’s popular. In a materialistic society, any identity is just adopted, produced, packaged and sold.

@josephm
, haha yea, that show’s great. microphone assassin has got to be one of the better episodes, too. i’d say seasons 2-3, and 4, were my favorites.
