you all have great minds! how did you start thinking like this? its not normal. but you make it seem like it?
But, in saying that, I think one of the main reasons I do know what I do is that I finally abandoned this notion I had up until the age of about 23 that I thought I knew everything about the world and that most people were idiots. I’m 25 now and looking back on me it’s embarrassing to see what an emotionally stunted human being I was.
@striving, You shouldn’t want to fit in. Trying to fit tampers with the ability to naturally progress (trust me, I have been guilty of doing this).
This feeling that a lot of people discuss here comes in time. It matures, it develops. I have always considered myself a fairly intelligent person who’s interested in many things the world has to offer, but it hasn’t been until recently that something within me realised I had to take the next step.
Just find topics that interest you and ask yourself why they do. Don’t read too much into anyone’s opinion on here either. There are some great minds floating around these joints but it’s important that you decide what you want and how you feel.
Or not! You can always just jump straight in and see where it takes you. Damn this whole realisation that there is no right or wrong way of doing things :P
@striving, I actually just had another thought for you as I sat here like a n00b wondering whether it was actually important to know whether or not the universe is infinite. I got excited at the fact that I asked myself this question, because the instant answer would normally be “Yes, we need/want to know.” and it made me happy of the future potential my mind has to ask myself questions that I would have previously palmed off as no brainers.
You have a great mind. How do we know this? Because you know something is up, you just haven’t got your finger on your own pulse yet. But you’ve discovered that it’s there and thus your search for greater meaning has commenced!
@striving, You are in the right place. Instead of liking stuff based on a collective, take a step back and think. What tickles your interests? What artistic/creative path have you found that resonates with you? Aspects of life that you have found mundane or anything that you perceive as just plain stupidity. Read, read, read. You have all the resources, now it’s all up to you.
@striving, books, documentaries, engaging in as many conversations as you can. Pretty much figure out what interests you the most, then think the sh*t out of it until you are satisfied, and move onto another topic =) soon you will accumulate a ton of knowledge on so many awesome things you’ll amaze yourself and have a blast in the process!
